That is insane. Hate how these companies tout how green they are, how they recycle batteries and plant daisies etc when they make deliberate moves to destroy the value of used ebikes. I know our governments don't take these things seriously, but there should be a rule mandating at point of sale...

Don't know if I said this before but I'd strongly consider using Continental Urban Contact tires, 27.5*62s, if and when they become available. They are $25 or so each at German retail prices. Marathon Efficiency is also good but prob more expensive ($40 at German retail) and a bit heavier...

It's pretty shocking and bizarre that Costco would never repeatedly stock an appliance of any other kind that was that poorly built, but for bikes (and hoverboards etc), they simply don't care. But it's been going on for decades.

That is very plausible. Juiced for instance started subbing in no name Logan Brakes, and I've seen anecdotal reports of them failing and Juiced replacing them under warranty without issue. I have Logans on my bike but thankfully I've had no issues with them.
