    Suggestions for mid-drive, step-through, w/ throttle?

Otterishly, I see in your initial post that you ride on gravel roads and/or mellow single track 50% of the time. I was considering the Level.2 step through for my wife but I’m not convinced it’s the best bike for her as we will mostly be riding on rough gravel roads and rutted forest service...

    Cyrusher Kommoda - A Unique, Full-Suspension, Step-Through Electric Bike - My Thoughts

Sorry about that, I was thinking of another step through that had an air shock for the rear.

    Cyrusher Kommoda - A Unique, Full-Suspension, Step-Through Electric Bike - My Thoughts

Thanks, I appreciate the link to the thumb throttle as I prefer thumb over twist. Did you mount it on the left side? There seem to be quite a few complaints about the rear shock and difficulties getting it inflated and keeping it at the inflated pressure when removing the shrader connection...

    Cyrusher Kommoda - A Unique, Full-Suspension, Step-Through Electric Bike - My Thoughts

The short wheelbase also concerns me in terms of offsetting it’s ability to handle trails. Inherent issue with smaller frames, but looks like they could have gone with a slightly longer wheelbase to improve off road manners. Would really like to hear more from any owners, both good and bad...

    Cyrusher Kommoda - A Unique, Full-Suspension, Step-Through Electric Bike - My Thoughts

Any comments on the performance of the Kommoda? I love the unique and very hard to find full suspension small step through frame. However, I’m skeptical as to how it will perform, even if every bottom of the line component were to upgraded (shocks, shifter, derailleur, etc).

Aventon Level: which replacement larger knobby tires

Tom: Was the bone-shaker observations when riding your Level on wooded trails before or after the additions of your larger knobby tires and suspension seat upgrades?

Aventon Level: which replacement larger knobby tires

If I do go with the Level.2, in addition to the larger more aggressive tires, an upgraded air fork as well as a suspension seat post like you use would likely be money well spent.

Aventon Level: which replacement larger knobby tires

Yes, everything is a compromise. My wife is very petite and her inseam is only like 25” to 26” so full suspension ebikes are really not an option for her. The top bars are just too high so she really needs a step through which just don’t come in full suspension (with one or two rare and kind of...

Aventon Level: which replacement larger knobby tires

…and in response to a question I submitted to Aventon on their website they just responded and said there is no differences in the frames between the 1st Gen Level and the 2nd Gen Level.2. I specifically asked about the tire clearances and they said there was no difference. Now if they use a...

Aventon Level: which replacement larger knobby tires

Pedal assist systems (PAS) generally work using cadence sensors (the PAS turns on after you start rotating the cranks) or torque sensors (the PAS turns on when you apply pressure to your cranks). Some mid drive motors use a combination of both, but Aventon doesn’t use mid drives. Cadence sensor...

Aventon Level: which replacement larger knobby tires

Might not be so easy to actually ID a torque sensor on the bike if you don’t know what you’re looking for. The easier way to distinguish between a 1st Gen Level and a Level.2 might be by the display. The 1st Gen has a black & white display with just a bar indicator for battery charge. The...

Aventon Level: which replacement larger knobby tires

Hey guys, I was seriously looking at a step through Level.2 but I eliminated it from my short list primarily because Aventon as well as my local dealer both told me that the absolute largest tire they would think would fit on this bike is a 2.25” (comes stock with 2.1” tires). The dealer even...

If you buy a bike with a Bosch motor, who owns the motor?

This is not right. Your shop should not have agreed to this. Someone at Bosch who typically handles warranty repairs did not have the presence of mind to realize that they have no right to the motor because they refused to replace it under warranty, and your shop did not have the presence of...

    Level.2 Questions

The folding ebikes are certainly viable options from a sizing perspective and we have looked at them. The problem is most are cadence sensor PAS only and they all look, handle and behave more like mopeds and dirt bikes than bicycles. As the manufacturers continue to move toward torque sensors...

Anyone Using the Model R for Light Trails?

I’m considering the Model R for my petite wife as it’s a small frame, it’s available with 24” tires, and it seems to have potential for use on gravel roads and dirt forest service roads due to the front suspension fork and frame/fork that accommodates 3” wide tires. The tires would have to be...

    Step-Thru

The Canyon Pathlite also looks interesting, but there’s no mention of it on Canyon’s US site. Does anyone know if there are any plans to make the Pathlite available in the US?

Add a Throttle to a Yamaha Motor?

I’m struggling finding an ebike that checks all the boxes for my wife (extra small frame/step through preferable, suitable for rough forest service roads/trails, at least a front suspension, torque sensor PAS and a throttle). The Liv Rove e+ could work but it doesn’t have a throttle. Does anyone...

20” vs. 24” Trail Tracker: PAS Swap?

She cannot stand over the top bar on the 24” Trail Tracker. The 20” Trail Tracker frame fits her better. The reason for considering a PAS swap from the 24” TT to the 20” TT is because the 20” TT does not have PAS (it’s throttle only). Thanks for the video link, I didn’t realize you could change...
