getting a regular bike after my battery fails?

Sorry, I got confused because my frame is post mount and the new Disc Trucker is flat mount.

Of course you will want to use a 180 or 203mm rotor.

Love the color. I am not sure what you mean by road calipers. My TRP Quadiem G-Spec are definitely not road brakes and work fine on my Disc Trucker. They are flat mount brakes vs post mount.

It might be better to try the factory fork and see if you need to replace it first. You won't be riding at ebike speeds.

Display cut out and loss of drive

If the cause is voltage sag, then yes, you need a new battery. Repairing the existing battery would essentially be replacing all the cells in it with new cells. There wouldn't be much cost savings, if any, over getting a new battery. The manufacturer, Cyrusher, seems to be having a sale on...

That looks like a great color. Is it a matte finish?

We need a picture of the frame. What color did you get?

Display cut out and loss of drive

Could be voltage sag. The internal resistance of the battery increases with age, which causes the voltage to drop under load.

    Air travel with ME1

The weight policy is going to depend on the airline you use and what your status with the airline is. But you shouldn't need to put it in a second box, just pay an overweight fee. Usually for over 50lbs, but that weight limit could be 70lbs if you have elite status with the airline.

Carrying photography gear on a ride

The problem with big expensive SLR cameras and all their lenses is that sometimes you miss the shot because you didn't have a camera with you. Phone cameras solve that problem.

I am sure the cheap ebike had a cheap price to go along with the cheap brakes.

New 2nd gen Brompton Electric C/P/T models

I bought an OG Brompton Electric a few years back for my wife (still have it). The most frustrating thing about it is the power assist cuts out at 15mph per UK standards, but I bought it in California. I put a Grin kit on my analog Brompton and it is a lot more fun to ride.

It's not the fault of the brake manufacturer. Hub motors have a much larger diameter than a standard bicycle hub.

Vado SL 4.0 Deore drivetrain upgrade suggestions

I haven't worked with CUES either, but I understand it uses a different cable pull ratio than the Deore. So you would be replacing the shifter and cassette as well as the derailleur. At that point, I would consider installing an upgraded system rather than the entry level CUES. Although I am...

I am not sure what to think of that. It works and I doubt it compromised the hub, but I probably would have taken a different approach if it were my bike. Most likely I'd pull the caliper off and adjust it while waiting for the new hydraulic brakes to come in.

    Controller question

No, the canbus won't work with your display. But it doesn't seem that hard to find a UART controller. This one says it will work with BBS02's newer than 2015. You don't have to use the light connector...
