    Dewey down under

Hi Jeremy, very kind of you to think so but to use a popular Australian colloquialism “Yeah, nah” (no) I’m just an e-bike rider, a typical middle-aged ‘Fred’ among cyclists, grateful to Court Rye and the EBR team for making this archive of e-bike reviews available, and for moderating this...

Thank you. I‘ll be in Australia until next Friday. I enjoyed reading the ride report. The map on post #6268 looked familiar as I drove through Birdwood on the way East to the Murray River earlier this week. Great stargazing there on the other side of the Adelaide hills.

Visiting Adelaide, South Australia. The city of Adelaide has working phone booths offering free wi-fi, handy! Many roads have painted bike lanes. Food delivery rig with a massive battery Torrens river linear park trail is a comfortable, flat, 45 minute ride from the CBD to the coast...

Welcome Robert, we have a bicycle Co-Op that recently opened a location near where I live in Arlington, Virginia, USA, https://velocitycoop.org/ that I intend to start using for servicing my commuter. I’m on a trip to Adelaide, South Australia, currently, and am impressed with city’s bicycle...

2015 Gazelle Impulse - to buy or not to buy?

Then good luck with your used ebike hunting, interested to read what you think of the used bikes you test ride at the Gazelle shop. I understand about the riding position, I bought some Dutch bike parts from an online seller to raise the stem so I am upright

2015 Gazelle Impulse - to buy or not to buy?

The Gazelle mechanic is correct, assuming the bike has an internal geared hub like a Shimano Nexus 7 or 8, the rider should pause pedaling, shift gear, then resume pedaling. Even with shift detection or a motor cut-out gear sensor, power is an issue, I have broken two Nexus 8 IGH with my BBS01...

2015 Gazelle Impulse - to buy or not to buy?

Perhaps I should clarify, I don‘t recommend buying an ebike from any brand with an Impulse motor of 2014-16 vintage. The documented problems on the British and German Pedelec forums I posted in the link above should make anyone think twice.

2015 Gazelle Impulse - to buy or not to buy?

No, but I admire their Bosch and Shimano Steps powered ebikes.

2015 Gazelle Impulse - to buy or not to buy?

Avoid. Impulse mid-drive motors are unreliable.

Pashley to launch a consumer ebike in 2024

The link in my previous post was for VVolt brand ebikes, not Pashley, in the context of their entirely separate crowdfunding campaign that just happened to launch the same week as Pashley. Just as Brompton ebikes have the frame made in London, so I believe any future Pashley ebike frame would...

Pashley to launch a consumer ebike in 2024

It will be increasingly common to use crowdfunding in an environment where the venture capitalists have burned their fingers on the likes of VanMoof. I noticed this week VVolt have also launched their own campaign, see https://www.startengine.com/offering/vvolt, and they’re related to the...

hello. need help with a 24v EVG ebike

Can you provide photos & model #? Ought to be fairly simple to identify the power wires (red & black) coming out of the battery pack, cut them and crimp on Anderson connectors to match Andersons for your new 24v battery pack. I use Grin Tech to supply the connectors and their crimping tool...

    Pedego Latch V2

I haven’t seen many reviews of the 2nd Gen folding Pedego Latch V2 introduced at the start of 2023. The main changes are to the drivetrain, they replaced the 36v 250w front hub and Nexus 3 IGH + gates belt combo with a 52v 500w rear hub motor and 18a controller, single speed with a 46t/12t...
