Easy way to tell if controller built into hub motor?

Also, when you are looking for kits, make sure the hub can take a cassette and doesn't use a freewheel since you have a 10 speed derailleur. This kit has a color display and an option to buy without a battery. https://www.amazon.com/Conversion-Wheel-Electric-BAFANG-Display/dp/B07ZVNX15J?th=1&psc=1

Easy way to tell if controller built into hub motor?

I am partial to the Grin kits (ebikes.ca). However, they are more expensive and the display is retro looking in a bad way. They will provide good support for their kits though and the CAv3 display gives you flexibility that other kits do not, like the ability to use a torque sensing bottom...

Easy way to tell if controller built into hub motor?

I would buy a kit with motor, controller, and display. You can use your existing battery. That way everything will work together. You may need to do some soldering to connect the battery though.

Get a good helmet, and wear it.

Head injuries are the leading cause of fatalities and disabilities suffered by pedestrians. Could wearing a helmet while walking save your life or would you rather take your chances? I won't judge you either way. https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/13588265.2019.1633817...

    Offset seat post

If you search for "setback seatpost" you will find them. Make sure you measure the seatpost diameter before you order one. The most common size is 27.2mm, but there are other sizes. Is the frame too small for you? You can also increase the reach by installing a longer handlebar stem to move...

Easy way to tell if controller built into hub motor?

I don't know. It doesn't look like the worst kind of donor bike to install a new kit on if the OP wants a project and likes the bike. It has disk brakes (mechanical, but could be upgraded) and a front suspension. You could get a decent kit and battery for less than half of what the bike cost...

Bike Trainer stand for Lectric XP?

Perhaps. I think that there is advantage to having a dedicated bike just for the trainer. You don't have to keep taking it on and off.

Bike Trainer stand for Lectric XP?

I don't know if it makes sense to put an ebike on a trainer. You can just ride the trainer in a really low gear on a non-electric bike so that there isn't much resistance. It is not like you will be able to go further with an ebike unless you are doing a virtual ride in Zwift or something.

    My "misaventure" in e-biking

Yeah, those are pretty fat seat stays. That is one of the trade offs of aluminum frames over steel. I don't think the clamps detract from the look of the bike.

    My "misaventure" in e-biking

The bike looks great. I like the red accents. I usually use P clamps for this as you did. However, rivnuts are the way to go if you are going to drill into the frame. It is a threaded rivet that is inserted into the hole and secured with a rivnut tool. It would be hard to tap a thin walled...

PSA - China energy crisis affecting production !

Interesting. It looks like the root cause is a coal shortage.

Why would she hit a curb while riding her ebike on a MUP? Was she drunk or texting? MTA: Maybe the kids distracted her.

A Teenager Hit Six Cyclists While Trying To Roll Coal And Was Not Arrested

I don't think that most people in the US believe cycling is a threat to their way of life. Many probably think that cyclists are inconvenient and that the roads were built for only cars. It is more a feeling of entitlement than fear. There is also a certain type of idiot out there that thinks...

Aventure rear brakes do nothing, fronts barely engage

If everyone had the same opinion, discussions on this forum would be pretty boring. However, for me, personal attacks make these discussions a lot less enjoyable.

I don't normally like to criticize how other people raise their children, but this was failed parenting for sure.

    Shorted charger

A professional electronics technician could likely identify the failed component(s) and repair it. You could take it to an electronics repair shop and pay them $30-$50 to repair it or you could just spend $20-$30 to replace it.

    Bike mechanics charge how much??

I have built a few wheels and it is not that tricky if you have the right tools. An experience wheelbuilder can build a wheel in under an hour. I would never pay $200 for that unless it included the rim, spokes, and hub and wasn't just labor. The last time I paid a bike shop to lace a wheel...
