We need to stop blaming victims in bike theft!

Maybe but I've lived here for 50 years and not had anything stolen yet.

How far to run down battery between charges

My rides average about 20 miles. When I'm done it shows either 3 or 4 bars out of five so guessing I use maybe 30-40 percent each ride. I fully charge after each ride. At the end of the season (late Nov.) I run them down to about 70% and store them in a closet until spring. I balance them...

We need to stop blaming victims in bike theft!

In my case the bike is either in my garage or under my ass so I've not bothered to buy a lock.

Hello, and I think I may need to move on?

Were you in PAS 5 and a low gear when you attempted the driveway?

I served as an anti war activist in the late 60's through the early 70's. Hopefully we helped stop that atrocity.

when to replace cassette and/or chainring

Thanks. Do you replace both the cassette and chainring at the same time?

when to replace cassette and/or chainring

My 2020 Rad Rover ST has a little over 4,000 gentle miles on it. I've replaced the chain once and both clean and lube fairly often. I have the tool to measure chain wear so know when I need a new chain. As far as I can tell though there is no way to measure cassette wear. I watched a couple of...

Wanted, step through, thumb throttle, IGH best but SS or 7speed OK.

I thought of that too which is one of the reasons I added the little gadget so I only use my thumb to activate the twist throttle.

Wanted, step through, thumb throttle, IGH best but SS or 7speed OK.

I thought that too but then realized that throttles twist backwards not forwards.

Wanted, step through, thumb throttle, IGH best but SS or 7speed OK.

I just did a search for fun trying to find if most throttle equipped bikes use twist or thumb. If they are mostly twist I thought that might explain more mishaps but I didn't find that info. Did find this though. https://reallygoodebikes.com/blogs/electric-bike-blog/twist-vs-thumb-throttle

Wanted, step through, thumb throttle, IGH best but SS or 7speed OK.

Interesting. So what happens if you accidentally hit a thumb throttle while moving a bike with the motor on? For what it's worth, the first thing I do when I'm done riding is lower the kickstand and turn off the battery. Then I push it threw the door into my garage or, if not home, move it to...

Curious why you say Rads throttle is dangerous? Never had a problem with mine. I did sort of turn it into a thumb throttle by adding a cheap ring that I work with just my thumb as I find it easier to use than twisting it with my wrist.

Better to downshift for stops (shifter wear & tear) or not (chain strain)?

That's where a throttle rules. I can be in whatever gear I choose when I come to a stop and then use a second or two of throttle to get rolling again. Pretty much the only reason to use one.

    Good comeback to the bank

A similar thing happened to me a few years ago but, rather than write a negative note I called and talked to them and they credited my account.

    Another class needed?

That can be a problem on the trail I ride on. Signs say class 1 only and 20 MPH speed limit. Problem is 20 mph is too fast on 90+% of the trail. When you have a downhill section with plenty of curves that you can't see around, what are you going to do when you go around said curve at speeds...

    Pre-/Post-Ride routine?

Other than checking the bike for tire pressure, brakes, etc. I don't do anything. My rides are roughly 20 miles.

Are mid drives just naturally less zippy than hub motors?

Interesting thread. Makes me glad I chose a hub drive.
