Change bike's front chainring to increase top speed?

I ended up changing both the chainring and the rear cog on my NuVinci N380 equipped bike using a TSDZ02 Motor. Before I changed them the gearing was just wrong and the bike topped out around 15mph. Now, with no wind, and given long enough to get there, it tops out about 22-24mph.

Class 3 Bikes: What Do Manufacturers Know That We Don't Know?

I think Priority got it right. Ship it as a Class 1 while including instructions for the user to change it to Class 3. That moves the onus to the user.

Sub $3000 Leisure/Commuter Bike For Hilly Area [Final Choice: Priority Current]

It has a lot of good features for the price. However, I was interested in going back to a belt drive.

Sub $3000 Leisure/Commuter Bike For Hilly Area [Final Choice: Priority Current]

Well, I decided today. The Priority Current is on the way. At 5'6" I ordered the small. I was considering the Gazelle, the Priority, and the Serial 1. Frankly, the Priority won on price. Gazelle C380+ Serial 1 Rush/Speed Priority Current Price $4,749 $5,599 $3,299...

Considering a Gazelle, Pros and Cons?

I know I am a bit late into this thread, but it has been useful. The C380+ is on my shortlist. I am 5'6" and the tall tyres have concerned me. On my current ebike (home built) I needed up switching from the 27.5 that the donor came with and putting 26" wheels on it. I am thinking of the small...

    Motobecane Ebikes Bikes Direct

This is my Bikes Direct. I was looking for the cheapest bike with hydraulic brakes. As you can see, I replaced the 27.5 tyres with 26. The hub is a NuVinci 380 and the motor is a TSDZ02. I replaced both the chainring and sprocket in order to get it to an easy 20mph. It also has a BMX chain. No...

Stuck in Analysis Hell - Please Help!! (Dost, Rize, Priority)

I am in a similar place. I currently have a homebuilt e-bike that I use for commuting most days. My commute is only about 2.5miles each way. No, I am not going to walk, I have a leg length discrepancy related to my cerebral palsy and walking just plain hurts (I use a walking stick, I refuse to...

Thought and concerns, is the Serial 1 Speed right for me?

I currently have a homebuilt e-bike that I use for commuting most days. I know I want a belt drive. I had one on a bike, that I had converted to a front hub e-bike. That bike is on a long term loan to my sister. I also know I want an IGH. I had a NuVinci on the bike I have my sister. I have...

Anyone use a solar system to charge your ebike? What system are you using?

As odd as it seems, I never used it on any bike paths. Most of the cycle touring I was doing did not offer that as an option. The trike ended up being stolen. However, at that point, I had removed the panels. I am currently in the slow process of putting them on a trailer with the intent of...

    Disappointed by TSDZ2 torque-motor performance

I also have a TSDZ2 and have tried several things to get the performance where I wanted it. I added a throttle, which involved changing the controller. That seems to help a bit at the top, it adds about 2mph. However, it does very little at the bottom. I normally start out with the torque...

SONDORS to debut first electric motorcycle later this month

As I look at it, my biggest "don't like" is the seat. I am not clear what they were thinking. As far as the hole, I can see closing that with coroplast, or aluminium sheet, and putting more batteries in there, or, as some have said, a storage box. That said, I am ready to jump. I just have to...

SONDORS to debut first electric motorcycle later this month

This is what has kept me out of some of the bike builds I have been considering, along with the Sur-Ron. To be legal they need to be registered and it is next to impossible to register them. If this thing comes with the paperwork to license it, then it will be a great starting point. However...

Why are direct drive hub motors considered best for commuting?

In a different thread, there was a bit of a consensus that a direct drive rear hub was best for commuting. However, there was little discussion of why that is so. I have a mid-drive motor on my DIY commuter, driving a NuVinci N380. I happen to think that IGH transmissions are best for...

    Belt or chain!?

I have had a belt-drive bike and loved it. It is currently on loan to my sister as a commuter. I think the main reason for not having a belt-drive bike right now is cost and availability.

Stromer ST2020 concept bike - Gates belt drive and 5 speed integrated gearbox

    a) do you mean the Concept Bike pres release? Yes, I read it b) Did you notice that the tyre you found is a knobby and not particularly suited to street use? On a different note, who makes the tension idler they are using?

Stromer ST2020 concept bike - Gates belt drive and 5 speed integrated gearbox

I am in with the crowd that is very interested in this. I had a belt drive on my first commuter e-bike (now on long term loan to my sister). I can't say enough good things about the belt drive. As for the TDCM motor, I have one sitting right here next to my desk. It never worked and the vender...

Converting a Cannondale bike with motor and belt drive.

I had an REI Gotham with a belt drive to a NuVinci N380. I ended up going with a front hub motor.

SONDORS is releasing it's first mid-drive EBikes.

I mentioned this in a separate thread, however, I noticed that the Cruiser has a break in the seat-stay. I see this as indicating that it may be offered with a belt drive at some later date. Does anyone have any information about the roadmap for this model?

    Sondors Thin model. Belt Drive?

I am not sure about the "thin" however, I was looking at the mid-drive cruiser and noticed that the seat stay has a break in it. That leads me to think that a belt drive may be in the roadmap for that model.
