I am not familiar with the differences between the Kiox and the Nyon. The Nyon can operate without the app so it gets the location data independent of the phone. The Nyon syncs to the app to track activites, assist in setup and customization of the Nyon display, etc.

I think the reference is to the Custom Riding Mode setup which is a paid add-on to the Ebike Connect app.

This is interesting. I have the original Bosch Nyon display, and I am under the impression that Ebike Connect altitude isn't based on mapping services but instead uses the Nyon's GPS altitude or more likely, the Nyon has a barometric altimeter that is used in the Ebike Connect altitude...

I thought we might be seeing some eBay sales of discounted left-over 8 GB versions of the original Nyon. That is how many of us got our 1 GB Nyons when Bosch upgraded to the 8 GB version. But so far it hasn't happened.

From the little I have seen of the new Nyon (online, not in person), I think I prefer the larger display of the original Nyon.

I haven't seen one of these yet in my area, but I have seen several of the single wheel electric skateboards on the local trails. I would say they were going 15 to 20 MPH. I am not sure if they are legal on sidewalks and trails, but no one seemed to be challenging them.

I would say the latter is the better approach. It is better to find out right away if the battery is defective in any way in case you need to make a warranty claim. Plus, it is better to store it with a partial charge.

I should have mentioned that there is about a 25 mile portion of this trail that is packed limestone and still needs to be paved.

There are several segments in Iowa that are complete, but also many gaps. The segment near me is the Cedar Valley Nature trail. It connects to the Hoover Trail to the south and east, making about a 75 mile segment from Iowa City to Waterloo that is complete.

The segment that goes through Iowa is only about 6 miles from my house.
