I don't have an ET-Cycle but rather an Amego Infinite Plus...uses the DAS-kit setup as well. Mine has the smaller L7 display. I can get into the settings menu and change a number of things, some of which should mitigate, but not eliminate, this problem. You might go over to Amego and ask if you...
I have seen it recommended that the switch, lights and that stuff on the battery be coated with silicone or apply silicone tape to mitigate this problem...I've done this myself, although I agree -- poor design.
I like to pedal and use the throttle occasionally for:
1. Starting from a dead stop
2. A "passing gear" if I have to get by someone in a hurry
So the thumb throttle works well for me.
I think that bike uses the same Das-Kit as the other NCM bikes, including my Amego Infinite Plus. I haven't heard that complaint about the thumb throttle. Curious to see how the twist throttle works out for you. If you decide to part with the thumb throttle, PM me and I can take it off your hands.
I just replaced my freewheel at 4000Km. I'm not sure it needed to be changed, but the chain had stretched so I decided to replace both at the same time. With the freewheel tool, removing and replacing is quite straightforward.
As for sourcing one, you will find plenty of 13-32T 8-speed...
Those 11-32T freewheels can be a bit hard to find. I found a place in Guelph that has them at a reasonable price. I can post tte link here if anyone is interested. Doing the swap is quite simple..just need the correct freewheel tool -- which is easy to obtain and not expensive.
I would assume you could put any 1000 watt kit on the bike. However if I were going to replace controller, motor (and wheel?), display, etc, plus the battery, I would look into buying a new bike with the specs I wanted and selling the Moscow.
I put this double-legged kickstand from Decathlon on my bike. Works well and on sale now for $20Cdn.

Interesting...anything is better than what came with the stock wheel! I relaced the whole wheel last year with the Sapim's and have not had one break since.
I recommend these spokes from ebikes.ca.

Ask for the smaller nipples unless you're prepared to drill out the spoke holes in the rim.
They also have an excellent video on relacing a wheel. I followed it and it worked out great.
Does anyone know what the rated amp output is for the USB port on the Reention battery? And whether it varies depending on the battery capacity (13Ah, 16Ah, 19Ah, etc.)?
Or...this one from Amazon should work...but you need to be patient.

I can give a bit of data - which may or may not be useful.
First I believe there is an LVC in both the Das-Kit Controller and also in the BMS of the battery. I'm assuming that whichever one is reached first will cause shutdown. I have 3 batteries that I use on my NCM bikes. I recently did some...
