EZ Bike - ebike conversion kit, $149, 40mph, 10 min installation.

5 mile range is believable. 40 mph not so much. And the noise?

Startling pedestrians can be so much fun.

There's a bike trail near my home (Metropolitan Bike Trail in DC) I stopped riding after dark because of this obnoxious, seizure inducing crap.

    BBS02 Headlight circuit current limit

There's lots of automotive stuff that runs on 12V. Gives me more future flexibility. I prefer not to run wiring higher than 12V all over the bike, for safety. The backlight on my C961 display goes off and on with the headlight. https://bafangusadirect.com/products/bafang-c961-lcd-display My...

    BBS02 Headlight circuit current limit

Schematic: S1 enables lights. F1 is a PTC safety fuse. The front and rear DRL lights are ~1W. Headlight is 6W IIRC. I'm using 4 2N7000's in parallel.

    BBS02 Headlight circuit current limit

The light line can be enhanced with a relay or (my preference) a MOSFET. The widely available 2n7000 switches on nicely with 6V on the gate, and you can parallel as many as needed for current handling. On my bike I use a DC-DC converter to drop the bat V to 12V. I can sketch up a schematic if...

Is it safe to freely use the throttle WHILE PEDALING on a mid drive?

This thread would have been locked long ago on "Bob the Oil Guy".

Encinitas City Council declares emergency for e-bikes, bicycles

It was a young guy on an un-motorized bike that rear-ended me on a Saturday afternoon, on a narrow bridge pathway (14th St. bridge from DC to Virginia) , full of pedestrians. No damage thankfully. I don't go on the popular paths on the weekends anymore.

BBS02B - my look at driver settings

I'll just throw my setup in the mix. Schwinn Frontier MTB with 26" wheels and rim brakes. Rider + bike 210 lb. Ridden almost entirely on paved roads/trails & moderate hills. 52T chain ring and 13-28 7-sp freewheel. Top gear used only on flat or downhill. BBS02B and 52V battery.

    Ergonomic Grips

    Lithium Battery charging.

I use these timers and unplug the charger manually: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FRTKBMK/ I've figured out how long to charge my bike, laptop, or smart phone to 80%. I never charge batteries overnight or unattended.

How long should I keep my Stromer battery plugged in? I believe it arrived in a state of deep discarge.

What is the rated nominal voltage, and what voltage have you measured?

    Here is a Nifty Item

Besides being a location prone to damage, weather, distraction, and added weight hindering steering response, I don't want to ride a geeky rolling science project. I ride the bike to escape technology as much as possible.

    BBS02 100km range

We're all stupid sometimes. It took 41 posts to get to the simple solution. @Gionnirocket is clearly the least stupid among us. :) Now keep tweaking to make every PAS level useful to you.

    *BBS02B* Settings/Pedal Assist/Stop Decay * an Excellent Motor Refinement *

FYI, I didn't draw the diagram. It came with v2.2b of the Penov program, which I've attached.

    Speed vs battery life

Back to the original question, yes, of course going slower and using less motor will increase range. Drastically, if you don't go much faster than you would without the assistance, only use it to maintain speed on hills etc. I actually enjoy getting away from calculation, test & measurement...

RadRover with no hub power and won't go backwards when pushed.

This is a geared hub motor, yes? Sprague (one way) clutch, yes? Disconnect the motor from the controller. If it now rolls backwards freely then there's one or more shorted power FETs in the controller.

BBS*** Settings for a Smoother Ride

Changes everything re the numbers posted for the BBS02. 4 inch tires at 20 psi are going to give shorter range than 2 inch tires at 40 psi.

BBS*** Settings for a Smoother Ride

Did you use all the same current limit, speed limit, start current and keep current numbers? In my normal starting gear, 52t chainring & 19t sprocket, my PAS 1 freewheels at 11 mph (18 kph). For comparison my throttle (PAS 9) in that gear freewheels at 28 mph. Maybe it's because my firmware is...
