I need a easy way to get my heart rate on my many rides.

Hello fooferdoggie, Last year I went through the challenges you face and feel your pain. I had a gen 1 or 2 apple watch that just didn't last or work for me. Finally retired it and got back into a beautiful regular watch and looked to other options for when I walk/cycle/train/etc. Note...

Tried another new route in my area today...I have hundreds, maybe thousands of kms worth of farmland area to ride in - right out of my driveway. Will need to mount my 4K GoPro on my new bike to capture pics and videos to share and see how I make out when I do. Anyways, 32C and windy today -...

Are eBike Chargers "Smart"...Mine Apparently Isn't

Does your battery have a BMS controller? Many do and it regulates the charging process, cuts off the charger (stops drawing in charge) when it reaches full. What you will see in choices you have for chargers are smart models that can stop at 'less than 100%' of the battery. A battery's built in...

100 Mile Challenge under 4.5 hours (at 22 mph average speed) Using Car Station Recharge Network

You have two awesome threads on the go for this challenge you are chasing down BikeMike - well done and exciting. I really appreciate all you have shared and all the other members have given for input. Your approach is from a lightweight design, option to ride human power only and use charging...

Any experience with EV charging network for eBikes, like evgo.com?

BikeMike: Seeing now your other thread for the 100 Mile Challenge under 4.5 hours is really impressive. I only hope my post above might help a little here and there with real life perspective of someone going long distance as well. Good luck!

who says you don't get a workout?

Remember the motor will only reduce your heart rate as much as you allow it. ;-) If you keep the assist on the lowest level while riding flats and such and then add a little extra when climbing hills, you will reach the same heart rates as your acoustic bike by simply going a little faster -...

    Need help with drivetrain selection...

Hey there cruzer, welcome to EBR. Just some thoughts to help you with what you are seeking. For quick reference I'm 6'0, 270#, early 40's and have a small fleet of ebikes to compare to for you. -95% of what you are looking for works perfectly with a bike having 50-60mm (1.9" to 2.35") tires...

Any experience with EV charging network for eBikes, like evgo.com?

Hello Mike, I will try to help you at least a little bit with some of the questions you have here from what I have learned and real world experience. In no particular order: -I come from the world of conversion bikes, not OEM builds and continue to work with these manufacturers/resellers of...

Thanks for sharing friend. Your post reminded me of driving a rental car around San Francisco 12 years ago (fall thankfully, not winter) and how crazy those grades could get. You have yourself there quite the hill for anyone to climb, ebike or acoustic.

I've never seen anything over 18% in my travels - this insane! Well done Sierratim. Where about is this grade if you don't mind me asking?

OlePhart, my dear new friend. You remind me so much of my grandfather and it warms my heart. Always happy to help you out with anything you need. But first, stop being so damn hard on yourself...you're freaking 80 years old and still waking up above the daisies - you should be proud! When I...

Norco Bigfoot VLT 1 - Fat ebike

I have a Norco 7.3 all-carbon (acoustic bike) that was converted by Bionx engineers to have a D500 motor - absolutely love it. As others have mentioned Norco is a trusted name in the bicycle industry. The Bigfoot VLT 1 is their 'top' model in this series and looking at the specs, it's dreamy...

    Anyone gone back to acoustic?

Love riding both. That said for every 1 ride acoustic I typically will have 10-15 rides on electric from my fleet. I can manage 60-90 minute rides on my acoustic's (mountain and fat bike) and use it as a good 'fitness test' - remembering only 18 months ago I barely lasted 20 minutes before...

who says you don't get a workout?

One further fun note on this topic - A long time friend of mine and inspiration for me to cycle asked to join me on a century ride yesterday. I welcomed him joining me and had a great ride out. For him - he had his best 100km speed/average. No one else he rides with (I'm his only ebike riding...

who says you don't get a workout?

Long time fan of Polar options. I currently have a Polar Vantage M watch for any activity I want to record other than cycling - walking, snowboarding, treadmill, gym workouts - and a nice backup to the bike computer if ever needed. With the watch the built in sensor tech on the back works well...

    Gel Saddle or Memory Foam

+1 going to your local LBS and working with them. Most stores will have the equipment to help measure up the seat to fit you properly. A small seat with sand built into the top for example - you sit on it and then the store staff can measure how wide your seat bones are - which makes a big...
