    Evelo aurora or???

Given your list of requirements, search for step-thru belt-drive bikes. Almost all of them will be mid-motor IGH with fenders, rack, lights, and hydraulic brakes. That leaves throttle, company reputation, and price to consider. The Evelo Aurora is the only one I see with throttle. Some options...

So MANY choices....tho I narrowed it a bit. Need guidance now.

If I'm reading the specs correctly, I see four rear-hub cadence-sensing bikes with throttle and the Gazelle, a mid-drive torque-sensing bike without throttle. I'm a newbie to e-bikes, but from everything I've read the Gazelle will be quite a different riding experience from the other four on...

    A question about connecting cables

I did a bit of research, and I would bet that the right part is Shimano EW-SD50. I am not 100% sure, but Shimano lists the EW-SD50 as compatible with the 6000, 7000, and 8000 series, so it seems that all of their systems may use the same cable here...

User Review: BMC Alpenchallenge AMP Sport Two

A 35-lb bike with Shimano E6100 and 105 groupset for $1200-1500? Dream on. There are few bikes that directly compete with the BMC regardless of price. The Specialized Turbo Vado SL 4.0 ($3350) has inferior components. A more even comparison with the OP's bike is the Specialized Turbo Vado SL...

    BMC Alpenchallenge AMP E-bikes

Congratulations on your choice! I think the BMC website shows the Sport Two with flat bars. Do you have drop bars? I look forward to hearing more of your experience with the bike and comparisons with other bikes you tried.

Giant Momentum Transcend E+ vs Priority Current

Wait. You can't shift while pedaling? That seems like a huge downside. People are okay with this?

35" inside leg length: Looking for Step-Thru, upright

Ah, I guess it makes sense that step-thru bikes will tend toward the small sizes, since it's perhaps more challenging to get the necessary rigidity in a larger size.

First impressions: BMC Alpenchallenge AMP Cross LTD

Another mod I'm thinking about is to swap the SW-E6010-R Di2 shifter for a SW-M8050-R or SW-M9050-R in hopes of improved ergonomics. I am now considering the Jones bar, the Jones bar with the 2" height increase, and the Denham bar. Maybe there are others: list of comfort MTB handlebars.

First impressions: BMC Alpenchallenge AMP Cross LTD

Today for the first time I left the motor on for an entire ride, and to be honest I now think it's not as loud as I originally perceived. Fair question. It's just my personality; I prefer to be stealthier. I would not ride where e-bikes are not allowed, at least if I knew they were not allowed...

First impressions: BMC Alpenchallenge AMP Cross LTD

That Cannondale looks like a beautiful bike. Many thanks for the reference to the Denham handlebar. I like that the video shows it being used with Ergon grips, while the Jones is designed for their own longer grips. One possible advantage of Jones is that it is available in a 2" rise version...

35" inside leg length: Looking for Step-Thru, upright

I also have 35" inseam. That's not overly long; many bikes should fit. Why consider Como L if XL is the correct size for you? Is it because you have found an L in stock somewhere but no XL? I wouldn't buy a bike with the wrong frame size. If you already have a bike that fits, you can try...

First impressions: BMC Alpenchallenge AMP Cross LTD

Two days ago I received my first e-bike, the BMC Alpenchallenge AMP Cross LTD. This is a lightweight carbon-frame mid-drive fitness hybrid, I believe similar in concept to the Specialized Turbo Vado SL (mid-drive) and the Cannondale Quick Neo SL (hub-drive). I am not a bike mechanic, but I hope...

Known Issues & Problems with BMC Products + Help, Solutions, & Fixes

I replied about the handlebars in your other thread. Do look into spacers and flipping the stem upside down. When I bought my touring bike years ago it came with enough spacers to raise the bars quite a bit. I'm a bit surprised that the store from which you bought the bike didn't help you out...

Modify Handlebars on BMC Alpenchallenge AMP City One

Hi Debra, I also just received a BMC bike, but mine is the Cross LTD. I bought without trying and was concerned about the stem geometry, so I did a bit of research into this. The first picture in your original post is not the City One. It is I believe the City LTD. The LTD models have a...

Overwhelmed with options-- help me choose

Is that true? My wife is 5'4" and rides an old (1993?) Specialized hybrid with a typical sloping top tube. My wife is soon going to look for her first e-bike, and we weren't intending to limit the options to step-thrus. But neither of us has experience with e-bikes, yet. Is it that many e-bikes...

Question about experience of using Shimano Steps E6100 motor

I don't know what is the difference between the dashed lines and the solid lines. Perhaps upper-lower bounds? But it appears that each line is showing how much torque the motor will provide given a certain amount of pedaling force. For example, for the E6100 in Sportive High mode, if the rider...

Question about experience of using Shimano Steps E6100 motor

Franco, check out pages 44-45 of the Service Manual. It explains how Shimano got the range numbers in the chart above. The E8000/E7000 test course has a hill and an extra stop-go, while the E6100 test course is flat. It's great that Shimano publishes the specific test conditions.

Question about experience of using Shimano Steps E6100 motor

Thanks for the Shimano Steps Service Manual! Indeed, it has quite a lot of content that I have not seen elsewhere, or seen scattered about in bits and pieces. A great reference. I am also curious about the STUnlocker and STRide apps.

Question about experience of using Shimano Steps E6100 motor

Hi Franco. Greetings from the US. You might want to post your question in this thread: BMC Alpenchallenge AMP E-bikes. For some reason there doesn't seem to be a lot of activity in these forums about BMC, but the above thread has experiences from several owners. Mostly it's about the E8000...

    Priority Current: Class 3 Urban Mid-Drive Belt E-Bike, 500W, Integrated Removable 500WH Battery, 140 NM, $3300 S/M/L

In the post below, someone reports a negative experience with a Shimano 5-speed IGH (presumably the same one) on a BMC e-bike, mostly because the gearing is too high for the bike. However, the BMC is 25kph-limited rather than the 45kph of the Priority Current, and it also has larger tires (700c...
