Hello from Sunny California - Retired and seeking first e-bikes

Welcome - To the EBR forums... and to the current challenge of finding in-stock e-bikes to test ride! I can only give one personal preference: Being a motorcycle rider I am accustomed to twist throttles, and our original Pedegos (dating back to 2010 and sold earlier this year) also had twist...

    Gepida Fastida

Yes, I believe that the Fastida is very similar to the Alboin, but the 2 most significant differences I recall is that the Fastida has a different Bosch motor (speed pedelec Class 3 28mph assist cut-off vs the Alboin's Class 1 20mph assist cut-off) and the Fastida came with Bosch's 500wH...

50nm mid drive vs 50nm hub drive

ICE=internal combustion engine Torque is a very meaningful measure of as it can show a comparative difference between 2 motors in how much work (for example, climbing assistance) one might be able to provide as compared to the other. But it is not the only important factor in an overall...

50nm mid drive vs 50nm hub drive

I'm afraid that your analogy of a motorcycle to an e-bike is too much of an oversimplification to be accurate or to make your argument. Torque (a measure of rotational force) is only a single factor in determining a vehicle's functionality. Higher torque allows higher work (a measure of force...

50nm mid drive vs 50nm hub drive

And... there is no way that your motorcycles are as light as your e-bike. Nor are the drive components on your motorcycle (wheels, tires, chain) nearly as light as those on your e-bike, so the torque of your motorcycle ICE is comparatively masked as compared to an e-bike. Plus electric motors...

50nm mid drive vs 50nm hub drive

I haven't read the referenced thread, but based on personal experience I don't agree with your conclusion. And that experience is based on a pretty apples-to-apples comparison - all mid-drives, similar wheel/tire sizes, similar bike weights, different motors from the same manufacturer, etc.

Bicycle sales over the past two months saw their biggest spike in the U.S. since the oil crisis of the 1970s,

Thanks for the link to another interesting article on the current bike/e-bike sales boom. I especially liked the line " they’re buying bikes like toilet paper ". 🤣 It is most interesting as we now wait to see what will happen as bike/e-bike supply (especially value-priced, first e-bikes)...

Thanks, and good luck finding your next awesome e-bike! :)

Fazua v eBikeMotion - quick review

Thank you for your assessment regarding the 2 systems. I have definitely looked at the Orbea Gains much more seriously than I have at any of the Fazua powered bikes. But in the end I have chosen to buy neither. I have come to the conclusion that at my age and fitness level I appreciate the...

50 nm mid drive vs 50 nm rear hub drive

Torque is what will get you up hills, and a mid-drive pedal assist system benefits over a hub drive of the same torque levels from its abilities to use the bike's gearing. Broadly speaking a mid-drive system with torque sensing (and they have cadence sensing as well - so the bike won't shoot...

No, that went away when the Porsches did. I even used to be President of the Loma Prieta region.

I try never to do such math! And boy is my wife glad I never got into airplanes! A buddy is into stunt flying and last I heard he had 3 stunt planes. But although we're the same age, he is still working and I was able to retire 12 years ago...

Need help finding bar end bike mirror of Pace 500

Is this the spacer you got with your Hafny mirror? If so, it is pretty thin. But you say that the mirror was too small without the spacer, but too large with it? Did you assure that the mirror locking screw was fully loose (to the point where one half turn looser would allow the bolt to...

Even more off topic, but it truly was an honor and privilege to have been able to run Laguna Seca at speed. It is a track so steeped in history and tradition. It was also the only track where I ever had an 'incident', where I looped my 911 by letting off a little too much coming into turn 9...

O.K., Porsche pics. Here's one where I'm chasin' down a Miata at Thunderhill: Porsches weren't even so bad (and they were a lot easier and cheaper to store) as compared to another hobby: Then again, you can always just show her the cost of some high end bicycles, and many e-bikes look a...

    Purion battery

Check out this thread: https://electricbikereview.com/forums/threads/boschs-purion-change-display-battery.14707/ Note in the above thread the information about maybe cleaning off the battery contacts with isopropanol (or plastic-safe electronic cleaner - better if you happen to have some)...

    An idea for bike companies

I agree with the above posts regarding the bike manufacturer's cost of the included charger. So you may want to re-ask your question to yourself: If you could get your new bike for $15 less without a charger, would that be an option you would take? I know what my personal answer would be.

I think "Customer Service": difference between Cannondale or Cube as a company. Anyone have issues which needed resolving and how well things were dealt with.
