    Radcity broke for 4 weeks.

I didn’t bother with the square wave and the Bolton arrived first. It was the one to stay on the bike anyway but lost the chance to test the new Rad one since the Bolton is on completely and no desire to switch out just for a test. I think the new Rad is going to be a 20mph only too so it’s a...

    Radcity broke for 4 weeks.

Controllers were scarce but finally received the Bolton upgrade yesterday and a Rad one today. I had a spare but it turned out to be sq wave which is really noisy. Rode my wife’s bike some to keep sane.

    Controller and motor test station.

We take our bikes on trips so a breakdown is unacceptable. I carry a motor/wheel that I repaired, controller/display, battery, spokes, shifter, seat post clamp etc. I just need a throttle to rig up a test station. Anyone done this? I need to make a wheel stand too.

    Prince Harry on a Rad

Here is a video showing how we drive on the left side of the road in the US. Diverging Diamond interchange. I have been on one multiple times, it’s really cool.

Any tall guys with a Blackbird?

I’m 6’5” and just ordered one. Full leg extension is not important for me on an ebike. It all depends on the seat post and longer ones might be available if needed.

Rad Power Bikes lands massive $150M investment

I’m sure that’s what he’s thinking for more torque. The city may have some kind of peak torque of 40nm but the typical riding is probably around 20 nm. It’s just the old days of advertising stereo amp power. Did you know that 1 true watt of music into a quality speaker will blow you out of the...

    Bolton kit for Rad

I haven’t even found an ad for a 135mm Bafang geared motor. All seem to be for fat tire bikes. Mine has a free wheel. I have a stock rear wheel that I could lace in a bare motor but I can’t find that either. Then I could buy the controller but I would be hoping that it had a tail light output...

    Bolton kit for Rad

So if it doesn’t matter if I get a freewheel or a free hub does that mean I will need a cassette if I get a free hub or will the same one from the city work?

    Bolton kit for Rad

I would like to put a new sine wave controller and a geared motor suitable for some hills that the City won’t do. I’m 245lbs. I get bleary eyed looking at all the motors please find me a good kit. 135 mm spacing. If the plugs don’t match, what is everyone doing? Just cut off everything and...

    Bolton kit for Rad

If they do a mid drive it will be a totally new frame design. I wish they would make an upright bike like the city with a geared motor. But the problem is that they will continue to do what they did recently and lock them at 20 mph.

    Bolton kit for Rad

I heard back from Bolton and it was not a typo. It’s an actual 35nm of torque. It seems that other companies are listing some kind of peak spike as the sales numbers. In any event what I have learned is that all these motors are not as powerful as some would want because those would simply be...

Known Issues & Problems with Rad Power Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

I sent them an email about a motor and got back a reply about a controller and emailed again and now nothing. He makes some good videos but needs to focus more on sales and service. Edit: They do eventually answer emails, 1 to 3 days usually.

That’s poor design. Even the Chinese should know that simple overload protection with auto reset has been around for decades.

    35 amp controller

I ride a lot in hot weather and with my stock controller the motor gets very warm within 8 miles on the rides where I do 22mph. Flat ground and PAS 3 with some throttle too, 245lbs. The Rad DD is 500 watts and programmed to only get 750 when the battery is full and tapers off with speed. You can...

    35 amp controller

Yep, square wave 52 VAC peak to peak unloaded on each motor phase. Red wire has 4 VDC vs 4.9 VDC on the Rad stock controller.

Known Issues & Problems with Rad Power Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

Air Pressure on RadCity. I recently read a 7 page thread on another forum where about 4 pages were all about a RadCity with very poor performance and low battery mileage with only a 150 lb rider. He even said that he put 35-40 psi in the tires. I was amazed that no one told the guy that a...

    Bolton kit for Rad

What is irrelevant about a 40nm Rad DD motor and an upgrade that is advertised as only 35nm. Torque is torque, doesn’t matter where it comes from. The upgrade is less than the original? What I was looking for is someone to say the Bolton ad has a typo or explain why 35nm is actually more torque...

    Bolton kit for Rad

The Bolton website shows 35nm for the motor torque. I don’t get it, the Radcity is supposed to have 40nm. I emailed them about it but have not heard back.

    35 amp controller

I have a motor extension cable with part of it bare so voltages can be checked. I’ll dig out my scope and see what it is. I didn’t buy from Bolton, would have but I don’t think he had these when I bought mine. It doesn’t squeal but more like vibrating groaning sound. Not sure if it will fry my...
