    Attn: New England eMTBers

NEMBA recently updated its "position" on eMTBs. While not fully embracing true pedelec mountain bikes, it's a far cry from NEMBA's often ridiculous statements about them since 2013. Note the reference at the end to a new Facebook Group that advocates for eMTB trail access in New England. I...

The infamous Motobecane HAL E-MTB. I bought one…

I'm curious if you run into what I did with the two Motobecane ebikes I assembled that came with droppers. In both cases, the droppers' internally routed cable housings were pinched by the motor such that the housings wouldn't budge to allow for seatpost height adjustments. The motors thus had...

    Justifiable in New England?

I get a kick out of New Englanders who downhill ski and snowboard, but shudder at the thought of riding a bike in Winter weather. I've done it all, and it's WAY easier to keep warm on an ebike than skis, especially on hilly trails 😄

What do you think about this full suspension rear rack?

There are an awful lot of bolts and sliding parts on that rack. It looks to me like it could work on a full suspension frame, but I'd be wary of relying on it to hold up to much "real" trail riding. Topeak's variation on that theme looks more solid to me, though it's more than twice as much...

We pedal our bikes. Dealers peddle (sell) bikes.

Another peeve is "its" vs. "it's." Even "professional" bloggers and my Android phone's autocorrect screw that one up frequently. ITS is possessive, IT'S is a contraction of IT IS / IT HAS. And use more paragraph breaks, people! The older I get, the harder it becomes to follow 20+ line...

    Converting a Montague Boston?

How did they make the front chainring work? Chain guide? More offset chainring? The 10mm offset on the TSDZ2 isn't enough for the cassette's first two gears on my bike.

    Justifiable in New England?

We'll be passing the three class law pretty soon... It's been on the docket for nearly 2 years! I'm still fighting the "natural surface" exclusion, which magically turns my class one eMTB from a bicycle to a motorized vehicle like a magic trick when I go from pavement to dirt...

My First DIY - Gravel Bike w/TSDZ2

I slapped the rear Axiom rack on, which'll help carry a LOT of bikepacking gear, but now I need to find a reasonably priced front rack. The Axiom's under $50 (got this one for $35) - a great deal for such a high-capacity rack - but they don't seem to make front racks, and the other ones I've...

My First DIY - Gravel Bike w/TSDZ2

That's why I snagged it, right before they ran out of large frames! Rides purty nice, too 👌 Yikes! I already have extra wheelsets for two of my eMTBs because it's easier than swapping tires all the time (good wkd for Ice Spiker tires on trails coming up hereabouts). But different wheels...

This might help with your seated pedaling problem. I love them on my hardtails! Their out of stock, but if your old MTB came with a 27.2 post, you're in luck soonly. Otherwise it says Spring https://canecreek.com/product/thudbuster-lt/

    Big name bikes and Bafang

Thanks for enlightening me - do you know when they started offering batteries? Are they Bafang branded or Hailong etc? The pic below is the 48V 11.6Ah on Bafang USA DIrect's website, which I assumed meant they only offer other makers' batteries. It's clearly a Hailong, so I was clearly wrong...
