    Luna X2 - First Impressions

IMO v2 Controller has too much power for trail use. I had to lower the Max Amp to 25amps to reduce the power and lower battery draw. Luna sells shorter crank arms for X2. Start with the what Luna includes on the bike. Get use to it before throwing $$ into the bike. I am on my 2nd Luna and have...

    Luna X2 - First Impressions

Yes 860C display. Had to load latest VESC firmware to get 860c to work with v2 controller. No issues with Bluetooth to v2 connectivity. I have the IOS and Android phones. Need android to flash firmware. I got a $40 burner phone that I use to side load the Luna VESC app. No issues with handlebar...

Luna replaced the M600 with a new unit. Installed and it all works again! I have been playing around with the v2 controller settings. Mostly changing the max amps to lower the power output and reduce the battery draw. I hear the next VESC firmware release will include a dynamic power output...

I got the Ebike Thumb Throttle BAFANG 300X and plugged it into the harness. Turned the bike on and it would not move the motor. Maybe the wiring or the design of the throttle. Went back to using the stock throttle which works. It does say BAFNAG1T4 cable is required for use.

I ordered a new Bafang throttle. Looks a little slimmer over the stock throttle. Should be here next week. I'll let you know what I think. Bafang Throttle

New install of a modified Nukeproof Mega Alloy 275 Chain Stay on the X2. I had to make a few cuts but it did fit well. The double sided tape included sticks well. I added a bead of RTV sealer around the edges to keep the water out. Not bad for $10 bucks.

    Juiced Ripcurrent S Cassette Swap

It's been 9 months since I swapped out the 9 speed cassette from the stock 11-32T to 11-34T. It has wild acceleration when pedaling in 1st-2nd gear and the 48T chainring. The bike 0-20mph is much faster than any Juiced Ripcurrent S or even the Aventon Adventure ebikes I have had with stock...

What I said about the dielectric grease don't use very much. I put too much on and it caused the motor to act up.

Logan front brake replacement Ripcurrent s Step thru

I have 3 Juiced Ripcurrent S one is a step thru. The brakes can be difficult to fix if you are not sure how to do it. Talk to a local bike shop about bringing the bike in to address the brakes. Learn from the bike shop tech so next time you can better understand the brake system. For my bikes I...

The 3 plugs that power, provide speed sensor and controller I have added dielectric grease to the plugs to help keep moisture and water out. The plugs are IPX5 rated. The motor is not IP rated but is sealed. Best to accept IPX5 as the water-resistant level you can expect due to plugs. I have put...

    Luna X2 - First Impressions

Last weekend I had a failure of the Bafang torque sensor (non Ludi). It failed by providing uncontrolled assistance then no assistance. Now it has stopped providing assistance while pedaling. Throttle still works and no error codes. I connected the BESST and was able to read the controller. I...

    Trek Powerfly 4 & 5

I hope you powerfly owners can help me validate your head angle. Can PF9 owners verify what their fork angle is? I was checking the fork angle on the PF4 FS. Trek web site say 66.5 degrees head angle for all PS4 FS sizes which have 100mm forks. PF4 FS: SR Suntour XCR 34, air spring, LO R...

Just completed installing the Wolf Tooth GeoShift Angle Headset (-1 deg) on the X2. I was able to install it myself and just came back from a ride. I was not sure I would notice any difference changing to -1 degree slacker. But I was surprised that the ability to maneuver tight technical...

    Luna X2 - First Impressions

I was able to use a rainy day on Saturday to put all new parts on the X2. The Shimano XT M8100 SGS Rear Derailleur I had to back out the B screw all the way for proper shifts. The derailleur M8100 SGS is listed for the 10-50 cassette but I read it would also work. The proper part was RD-M8100-GS...

Had an exciting day last weekend at my local trail. Met 3 guys and a girl at the trailhead riding Specialized Levo and Levo SL bikes. We went for a 2.5 hour ride (18 miles) and road a mix of xc and tech trails. Alot of sandy conditions and it had just rained the night before. I have never rode...

2 weeks for the wheels to be built. So with new wheels I have an opportunity to get new hubs and the Shimano centerlocks look like as good as any time to switch. The new 2022 350 rear hub from Swiss have been updated to include 36T and a few other changes. Switching to Shimano drivetrain seems...

    Trek Powerfly 4 & 5

Starting about a month ago the rear hub started clicking. Took the PF4 into the dealer today and they confirmed the rear hub was bad and whole wheel will have to be replaced. Warranty covers replacement. That hub lasted about 4 months. They talked to me about washing the bike and how that may...

    Trek Powerfly 4 & 5

Today I swapped out the stock 36 (steel) tooth chainring for a 38 Chainring (steel) on the PF4. Looking for a little better speed per gear. 4th-11mph, 5th-13mph, 6th-15mph, 7th-17mph these are max sustained cadence speeds. Most of the trail riding is 9-13mph and paved is 15-20mph. I am seeing...
