    PowerTube 500 holder

A number of frame bags that hang from the top tube should work. The large of this brand fits a 625wh powertube, so should easily fit a 500wh. While the black medium in the photo below have below is the exact right size to fit a 500wh powertube, it does require modification to one end to allow...

2024 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

It's supposed to rain hard here tomorrow morning, we'll see if I bike in to work or not. Haven't driven to work in over 2 months. Fall is definitely here, crisp mornings and rain creeping into the forecast bit by bit. From last night's ride home

SHOW us YOUR PIX here .... Odd, WeiRd ,UnUSuAl or EyE CaTchIng things from your rides

Yeah, I didn't secure a bag properly a couple weeks ago. Had to cut it out of the wheel, then use pliers to get the shirt out of the brakes. Of course it happened the week after I put a new rotor and new pads on. Still trying to get the rotor straightened out ..

    I bought a Grizl:ON CF 9, AMA

The mount points are on the inside surface of the seat stays. You can see it in the installation video for the unavailable fender/rack from Canyon. Glad to hear you are enjoying it. Bosch is really pretty good at regulating the power so any drop in assist is very subtle under about 15% or...

EBR made me do it! (new Vado SL 5.0 EQ)

That was what held me back from the recent deals on the Yamaha Wabash RT here in the US. Most of the available data shows a pretty quick tail off in power above 90 rpm for the older S series motors. The newer X series keep getting increasingly higher rpm assist, but probably well past their...

    Cube - Protrusion Height 80mm

I think they are telling you standover height at 80mm forward of the point of a vertical line up from the bottom bracket. Usually you have to guess where they are measuring standover height. Look at the chart, the protrusion height label has a line going back to the same vertical that is used...

    Trouble getting accurate calorie data

Strava just passes along the Calorie number that was sent to it. But not sure if it was Wahoo or even the Mastermind that made the erroneous calculation. Strava shows Calories as they were provided to us by upload partners. If no value is sent, or you record with the Strava mobile app, we use...

    interesting new garmin radar data

DCRainmaker's take on Varia: "Now, first, a quick two-second primer on the Varia radar series. In general, there’s two trains of thought to people with the Varia radar: A) People that have tried it and love it B) Everyone else Seriously, it’s the *only* product I’ve ever reviewed here that...

    2025 Vado

They still have 2022 models on the site. Did they skip MY2024 completely on the Vado's due to excess post-boom inventory?

    Convert belt-drive to derailleur?

Seems to me you went down this path before, but you've decided upgrading to the AutomatiQ is not feasible? https://support.enviolo.com/hc/en-us/articles/11954238605330-Retrofit-to-the-AUTOMATiQ-Part-1-C-Hub-interface-assembly-from-Manual#retrofit-guides-index...

Fish tanks, who messes with them?

I stopped keeping fish when kids came along, but had several misadventures with aquariums over the years. In grad school we woke up on Thanksgiving morning to find my saltwater tank empty and the carpet soaked. I think that was a 38g or 45g. We moved the tank out on the 45F cold porch and...

Old man, new bike, massive hills, lesson learned

I'm with Mike, no reason this bike can't climb hills. And no reason to start with changes that would effect top speed. It's a bit of an oddball - clearly designed as a 2x (it has a braze-on for a front derailleur) but shipped as a 1x with a not very wide range cassette. Microshift makes...

People for Bikes: Progress on Ebike Laws in the US

Interesting to note that sometime between June and when the bill got sent to the governor, they removed 'continuous mechanical' from the 750w language in the bill. I thought you were overreacting until I read the final version - the older drafts made much more sense, leaving room for higher...

Largest pannier for real backpack insertion?

Have you considered 2 Wheel Gear? I see someone occasionally with their more basic convertible and he says he loves it. Setting aside the weird 'smart' feature the Alpha looks like it has what you need. https://twowheelgear.com/products/alpha-pannier-backpack-smart?variant=39516137095228

    500 Watt Battery Problem

You still ride a Powerfly? If its a powertube the power button looks like this. Holding it in for 20sec? should force a battery reset unless it is completely dead. In that case, a dealer can help with warranty replacement.

2024 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

In Seattle, summer is followed by spider season. This one took advantage of me biking to work to build a web across most of my car's windshield. For now, I still get to enjoy evening commutes home. After spider season we'll go into the Big Dark
