    Car Company Ebikes

The Audi is badazz! 24 lbs, but where is the freakin seat? I think this quote sums it up for now; ' Car companies have launched such concepts merely as a vanity project to soup up their reputation as environmentally friendly." -S

Didn't Know This Was A Crime In Canada...

So civil liberties are going to sh!t in Canada too,.. I'd better keep my doggie passenger south of the border. Meanwhile high crimes are going down that would blow your mind. -S

Help with iZip Zuma 36V battery

You are probably ski-rude until the replacement is available. What do you mean by spliced? Putting good batteries inline with dead ones is a bad idea. The circuit board is likely the BMS, or battery management system and yes all good batteries systems have this to prevent deep discharge...

    eBike for the Big Man?

Regarding the Diamondback Trace EXC, nice that it comes with hydraulic brakes & a 48 volt battery for $2,500. It is basically an Izip Dash with an important upgrade. Sorry to say that I don't think it will support our big friend as good as a Haibike which has a much stiffer frame and large...

    Refill a Stromer Battery

I would not give up on this so fast, I've seen German fellas offering Bosch rebuilds. Personally I would buy a heavy duty soldering iron and some fresh cells and try it myself. Not that I can recommend anyone try this, in fact Don't try this at home! Utube is full of guys building power packs...

    Optibike M7 or R8

So you commute with your Hai? Well no because I work at home, but whenever I'm not working I'm riding, usually 30 miles 7 days a week, sometimes a bit more sometimes a bit less. Are you still using the stock knobby tires or did you go to hybrid style tire? I went hybrid pretty quickly as I...

Let's see your best pic of your electric bicycle

I don't recall from memory but the axle body will be high on one side causing the loss of traction. I'm using bear claws for pedals, they stick like a mofo but I have constant puncture marks in my legs from them, kinda like how guys fry foods with no shirt on! -S

Spring Maintenance - Check for Worn Chains!

So your is 15 tooth? Mine is 18. REI has the chain. -S

    Optibike M7 or R8

You can't really compare a 350w geared mid drive to a 500w direct hub drive in simple terms because the mid drive is geared providing more torque, while the direct drive shines once up to speed. Maybe that is why the 60nm spec is so common when talking Bosch. Regarding the M1 Spitzing, $8,500...

Spring Maintenance - Check for Worn Chains!

I found a Shimano HG at my local shop, it was the first time I did not remove any links to match the OEM chain length. Regarding the front sprocket or chainring you will probably have to order through your local dealer, although I did see some offerings in Germany. -S

    Optibike M7 or R8

Kaldeem you may be aware I saw power failures while demoing two separate Specialized bikes. Also don't be concerned with an e-bike motor doing too much of the work, you are still free to pump as many human watts into the cranks as you like (up to the cutoff speed), in fact there was a recent...

    eBike for the Big Man?

The Haibike felt "strange" but that may have been because it was a mountain bike with suspension forks (I'm used to solid forks). Yeah that is called comfort, something nice to get used to. The Felt was nice - but I watched, with alarm, the projected range move downward at a noticeable, and...

    A POC Upon Your House

My bright green brain bucket is actually a Bell BMX model, just over a hundred bucks. It has the rear dial to tighten onto your skull and comes with a cheapo GoPro mount. -S

    Flat tire

Having no back sucks, so I'm hearing you on that. Should you wish to explore a fix at some point keep in mind that removing the battery (if possible) will reduce the weight. Also the kickstand on some bikes can actually be used while wrestling the wheel in and out, or the work can even be done...

Locking skewers on Dash (or any ebike with back hub motor)?

I've owned that bike (same year) & doubt that you are going to find an easy way to change the axle. You could however get rid of those cheap azz skewers, actually cut myself on them once. Here are some observations:

Need New Tires... Marathon -or- Marathon?

I rode a conventional mtb there about 10 years ago, inside the park on dirt. Every corner revealed a new postcard view! Also went into a lava tube, that got scary pretty fast all by myself. Thanks for the info. -S

Let's see your best pic of your electric bicycle

I dig the green accents on the 29r's, including the anodized hubs. Be advised that those pedals do have a top and bottom VS a purely symmetrical design making it easy to slip off an inverted pedal. -S

Need New Tires... Marathon -or- Marathon?

@George S St. George, have you ever tried to ride through Snow Canyon? I see their website say non-motorized but that could be in reference to gasoline power. BTW I run cheap tires (WTB Beeline 2.2) with liners, 3 flats in 3,200 miles. -S

    Flat tire

With my Dash (now sold), a rear hub motor design, I first swapped the front and rear tire at home to get a feel for it, and to make sure I had all the right tools in my bag. It helped to put the bike in the highest gear first so the cassette can be cleared from the chain/derailleur more easily...
