Realistic mileage for the Turbo Vado SL 5.0 EQ?

Very much agree it is more about frequency than distance. The body can only adjust so fast to changes so might as well go slow and sure. Just going out and "messing around" is enough for fitness, when considering the alternative is sitting.

    Pinarello Dyodo: First Impressions

If I had one in the 80's I would have been on my tours and never returned until fall and school started. Calling home only to get money!

    Charger 3 Arriving

They (Flats style) are designed for MTB where one wants a sure footing without cleats (clipless). To get that solid footing there are small pips that rise out of the surface. The result is like inverse cleats-spikes. It is VERY hard to slip off, but more to the point, once you put your foot...

Bigger wheels better on rough terrain?

Yes what you describe is the common thinking. However the science shows a more complex picture. The amount of resistance and where it occurs are at interplay. It is better to absorb the imperfections of the road in the tire than in the upper bike. Also there is a belief that the sound and...

Do I need a PHD to change a tire, or just a little advice?

Sounds like the OP has the wire "fused" into rim using the tire "rubber" material. The tire material acted as glue to the stiff wire. A gentle usage of a heat gun might have softened the material enough to break the adhesion.

Bigger wheels better on rough terrain?

Lower tire pressure also helps comfort too. And it often make the bike faster (less rolling resistance). I have 29" 38mm and 50mm tires rated to 60 psi and run them at 28-30 psi, which is smoother and faster than 40psi. But it depends upon the tire. That is why fat tires are helpful, lots...

    Narrower tires for Vado 4?

The make a regular and heavy duty. Of course they will be more fragile but some people ride over stuff, and don't stop to pull out the debris. Seriously, one only gets flats by running over stuff (or hard strikes-cuts). Simple solution is not to run over so much stuff (avoid strikes), and...

Good bag for pizza rack on Specialized Como 5.0?

There are sort of two applications you are describing. 1) Travel-commute: for this it might be best to choose a more aerodynamic solution. The stuff you carry is sort of "known" shapes, and sizes. Mini Panniers on the front rack for main cargo, saddle bag or frame bags for other stuff. The...

    Narrower tires for Vado 4?

Part of it depends upon the width of the rim. The Vado 4 specification don't show the width. But that tolerance is more about having the tire width being 120% of the rim width and running tubeless. I am very much with you on getting more performance and tires are a huge factor. Rene Herse...

    Riding through water...

Talking to the the guy who rebuilds the Bosch motors, he claimed Gen 3 and Gen 4 are MUCH better with their seals. Bottom line is submerging for long periods or pressurized water is not good. Occasional short term water submerging (5-10 seconds) is probably OK. Heck a dry paper bag can...

Replacement Cranks for Bosch Gen 3 Performance Line Motor?

I got a pair of those only to discover they use the standard ISIS spline, so they fit Gen 2 and 4 Bosch motor spindles, not Gen 3 micro ISIS spindles.

The latest trend that’s helping reduce e-bike prices - Single-speed electric bikes

I think this is KEY. There is a lot that can be done to make the effort adjust. The Bosch really kick in regardless of mode in certain situations. Using a timer one would know when someone is stopped and restarting for instance. I can imagine it turns into more of an automatic shifting feel.

    Tubeless tyres

On the Rene Herse tires, they do not work with sealant that contains fiberglass. The fiberglass works through the threads and causes bleeding. Need to use Panaracer latex sealant or equivalent. As for the other problems, it sounds like a bad tire and should be exchanged for a new one.
