Very pleased with new Como 4.0 650b

I haven't posted for a few months because the bike has been amazing. It's dialed in and perfect. A great investment in fun and health.

Hi, The stock cables are a little too short for mounting them next to standard grips. You can see in the photo that the right side lever is pushed all the way over to the side. I have not had an issue but the shop thought it was a little short. A new cable was installed on the left side...

Unfortunately the rear brake was off center for quite a while and rubbing for quite a while. I thought the rotor was bent because it would start to rub badly when heated up. I recentered it and although not rubbing it doesn't sound right when braking. The front brake doesn't make an unusual...

Hi, it's been an unusually rainy winter over here. I've been able to get a few rides in with the Jones bar and the new 44 tooth chainwheel. I like both very much. The increased rise of the bar is good. I really like how there's a lot more space for lights, phone, bell, etc... I finally...

    Really good helmet light?

Hi guys, Here's a video of my lights. Recently installed on the bike is a Supernova Mini Pro- E25 with a high low beam. It's a big upgrade over the stock light. On the handlebars is have a B&M Ixon Space which is an amazing self contained, small headlight with an awesome reflector. The two...

Thanks for the info. I find it interesting that they made such a big change in the chainring and basically have the same gearing as on my Como. I guess I should check my cassette to confirm it's really an 11-42.

I ordered a 44 tooth chainring and that will get me the gear ratios I wanted. Any idea what the largest and smallest cogs are on the SRAM 11 speed? Also, the bike shop said my chain was too short for the 48 tooth chainring and that's why it could have been jumping off. Thanks, Dave

Man, the published Como specs are freaking wrong on the size of the chainring. The specs state 40 teeth. The actual chainring is 48. My new chainring is 38. Way too big of a jump down. Awww man, that was a waste.

I had my chain jump off on the inside of the chainring the other day. That was strange since there's no front derailleur. No issues after that. Photo from this evening's ride.

Thanks Stefan. Interesting suspension bars. The Como is a great bike. I think I will remove the chainguard. I was cleaning the drivetrain and the chainguard prevents cleaning.

Sorry, I was wrong. I think my Como has a 1 1/4" stem. I asked Redshift and here's their reply. Speaking of suspension, I've been thinking a full suspension bike would be cool. If you go over moderate potholes / moderate bad road sections that you would normally stand up for on a no...

When I got the H bars I was a little disappointed that they didn't sweep back more. For the last 20 years I've ridden bars that sweep all the way back. The 45 degree bend on the H bars is not that different than the stock 30 degree Specialized bars. Here's what sold me on the H bars: 2.5"...

Thanks Stefan. The new chainring is on the way. I'll have the bike shop sort it out. I'm going to make some other changes: change the bars to Jones H Bar with the 2.5" rise Install Supernova Mini Pro 25 light Have them continue to problem solve my electrical / software issue

Thank you Stafan for the Amazon links and info. I'm going to order the new chainring. I want to keep the chainring guard to keep my pants clean. If I keep the chain guard do I need new bolts? Thanks, DF

Thank you Stefan. That is a brilliant work around. Yes 40 tooth chainring. You are correct, I need more of a granny gear. Some of my hills are very steep. My cadence gets low in the middle power mode and I feel the need to switch to the high level power mode. Some days I'd like to just...

Hi guys, Since I won't be getting a 5.0 anytime soon I think I want to upgrade to an 11 speed which will mean changing out a number of components. I ordered a 10 speed cassette but the jump up in gears is too large. The stock 10 speed cassette is 11x42 and I'd like an 11 speed 11x46. I've...

Specialized confirmed that mine is the 6 volt version. I also asked if any XL Como 5.0 were in the plans and she didn't see anything for the coming year. Bummer. I finally got a video of the daily ride through the park. It's getting dark early and that's why I want to improve my lighting...

Hi Rome, The Como 4.0 is a class 3 and doesn't fall into the Brose standard lineup. I think mine is the 6 volt version but want to make sure before ordering a fancy light from Germany. Thanks, Dave

Hi everyone, I'm still really enjoying the Como. I took it in to the shop to try to resolve my issue and they updated the firmware. That greatly reduced the issue. Since then I've only had the system lock up one time... I'm still searching for a better headlight. The Lezyne is pretty good...
