Known Issues & Problems with Vanmoof Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

The X2 has much smaller wheels than the S2. Does that have a big impact on the ride or handling? Have you ridden both of them and could you comment on the differences?

Known Issues & Problems with Vanmoof Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

@tedcousens - hope you write a little more about your experience with these bikes soon. there is very little current information (in english) available. for now, can you comment on differences in ride qualities of the S2 vs X2? Is the X2 as comfortable and fast as the S2?

Adding more gears on a VanMoof

This doesn't answer your question, but people tend to forget that bikes designed to be ridden in Holland don't always work well for other parts of the world. They have thoughtful designs for commuters because that's the way people get around in Dutch cities, but Holland is flat, so bikes do not...

    Specialized Turbo Como 3.0

I have a hitch mounted rack and it's pretty stout (Yakima) and easily removed. It does require mounting a trailer hitch to your car, but if you're at all good with tools, that's easy. Otherwise, you could have it mounted. But if you go the hitch rack route, make sure to get the one that has a...

Tubeless tires--please share experiences and ask questions here!

I'll bet those Tannus tires heavy. Great if you don't want flats. Less so if you value a nimble, compliant ride.

Love my CCS, losing patience with Juiced

I don't think Mr. Juiced is old enough to have a daughter that could be confused with a mistress.

    The Rise of Electric Scooters.

Agreed. And since they use electric vehicles of all manner much more than we do here, they know what they're doing. I had a co-worker visiting from China and he wanted to buy something "made in USA", so I took him to Target. We couldn't find anything made in the US in his price range.

Love my CCS, losing patience with Juiced

Sorry you had such a bad experienced with Juiced. I had a Juiced bike and the battery went bad. They sent me a new one of larger capacity within a couple of days. I hadn't even returned the old one. And they gave me a free front basket. Granted, when I worked with them, they were a smaller...

    Front or rear basket?

I'm a big fan of carrying things on the front of the bike, though as has been mentioned, it can be unstable unless the rack is attached to the frame. If the basket isn't attached to the frame, a "deflopilator" spring to keep the front wheel from flopping to the side is helpful. See (Link...

    Bionx enter receivership

My take was that Bionx had a high quality product at too high a price point. Especially now with all the decent, inexpensive options for a complete bike. Given the proprietary nature of their product, I don't think I'd purchase one unless it were at a very substantial discount.

    The Rise of Electric Scooters.

@Ravi Kempaiah - I don't blame you for not wanting to make that long commute in the freezing cold after a long workday. Sadly, I find myself reaching for the car keys with much greater frequency now that it is cold, wet and dark. Not sure an e-scooter would be much of an improvement over and...

    Damn Shame About Faraday

The light weight and simplicity of the bikes was nice, but they didn't change for so long. Last one I rode was 3 or 4 years ago and it didn't seem that easy to regulate the speed and it didn't have torque sensing. But nice, elegant bikes.

    Cobi users

Good points, both, Hairy and Ed. Samsung has an OLED display which is quite prone to getting burned in. I wonder if the auto-dimming would make it dim enough to prevent burn in on an OLED display. It might almost be worth getting an older 'junker phone' to use with COBI if this is an issue.

    Cobi users

Does the Cobi system prevent the phone from going to sleep or will the user still need to periodically login to the phone when using in "Cobi mode"? Does the phone maintain charge from the bike battery? I'd expect periodic logins wouldn't be required, but wanted to confirm.

Hub drive vs mid drive, round 2.

@Trail Cruiser - what kind of mid-drive and torque sensor did the Pedago bike you tested have? I recently purchased a Bosch powered mid-drive and before I sold my BBS-HD mid-drive, I had a chance to ride both of them back to back. Although the BBS had lots of power, the Bosch felt a lot more...

Hub drive vs mid drive, round 2.

When you say 'crank forward' are you talking about an extreme example of this such as Rans bikes or something milder like Electra Townie?

Ariel Rider Support Problems | Never Answers Their Phone

Gary - Sorry to hear about your misfortune with Ariel and hope it gets resolved soon. I almost bought the M but decided against it because I thought the narrow 20" wheels might not give a good ride. I had a 'bad battery' experience with one bike I bought online and it was addressed immediately...
