    Picking up a Trek Allant+ 9.9s Tomorrow

I really enjoy riding my Allant 9.9S...once I got the bugs worked out. I avoided any issues with the phone by upgrading to the Nyon display before taking delivery. I much prefer a purpose designed device instead of trying to do everything with my phone. It has worked out just as hoped. I...

    2021–2022 Riese & Müller Homage

My guess is the cable needs a bit of slack taken out of it, perhaps just a turn or two on the barrel adjusment

    2021–2022 Riese & Müller Homage

There are tons of good instructional videos on Youtube that will explain in detail how to take the stretch out of your cable, tighten the barrel connector at the shifter or at the derailleur and how to set the upper and lower limits. Just look for "adjusting Shimano XT 11 speed derailleur" or...

New Commuter Considering an ebike and would like suggestions

Your budget really constrains your choices but there are a few choices that might serve you adequately. A bike that will be used as a commuter needs to be very reliable and well built. Getting a bargain bike is ill advised as you are depending on the bike to get to work on time and function as...

    2021–2022 Riese & Müller Homage

I am an older rider and was at 210lbs when I had my Homage Rohloff HS. The climb up to our house has a couple of blocks at 18-19% grade so I got to test various combinations of gear and assist on a very steep grade. The torque curve is different on the HS (high speed) versus the CX. The CX...

    Earbuds and wind noise

Motorcycles are way different than bicycles. On a Harley all you can hear is that lovely, deep rumble of the motor, that plus wind & tire noise. All three are so loud that nothing else can be heard and with no noise damping you are likely to damage your hearing. Custom molded ear plugs are a...

    I am super delighted!

Rohloff hub can be quite sensative to over tightened axles. It can cause inaccurate shifting or damage to seal and oil leaks. Under tight is dangerous as well. A hex nut skewer can be tightened with a torque wrench to achieve a specified torque value. A QR skewer is guess work at best. It...

    Allant 7 charger

If you refer to Trek's spec sheet on their Trek Allant+7 web page Shimano MT 200 brakes are specified as is a 4 amp charger. https://www.trekbikes.com/us/en_US/bikes/hybrid-bikes/electric-hybrid-bikes/allant/allant-7/p/30918/?colorCode=bluedark

Unicorn Hunting - Computer panier bag for my wife

This racktime city computer bag is great. The only photo does not show it feature but they include a waterproof rain cover in the side zipper pocket and a zipped cover that goes over the pannier hooks on the back side. It is well organized inside and reasonably compact. I probably won't...

Should an Allen Wrench be stored with your wrenches or your screwdrivers?

Allen wrenches should be lined up, small to large, on a peg board right below the wrenches and between the screw drivers and Torx drivers. If in a tool box in the same drawer as the screw drivers, torx drivers and nut drivers...with wrenches in their own drawer. YMMV

    I am super delighted!

The Rohloff hub does not use a through axle but rather a quick release skewer. No through axle option available. I am not sure that the Fabric water bottles work with the front rack. I suspect using a longer bolt for the water bottle buttons might not work as you would not be able to torque...

    Superdelite MTB Style Fenders

I had a pair of SKS Raceblades on my 2018 Delite Mountain. They went on and off in about two minutes and did an okay job, not as good as close fitting longer fenders but those had to have both wheels removed to put them on and off...

You can do it, especially in Turbo. The main thing is to keep your cadence at 70+ if you can.

E- road bike for longer weekend rides

I get around 120 miles in Eco, 80 miles in Tour and 65 miles in Sport so I hardly ever need a second battery. I do have one but it is not integrated with the system. When going on a very long ride or overenight, I carry a second 500 watt hour power tube in a frame bag that hangs below the top...

E- road bike for longer weekend rides

I have an Allant 9.9s with a 10 x 51 tooth cassette and a 46 tooth front chainring that makes it up that grade just fine in sport (not Turbo) using the 45 tooth (not the biggest) rear cog.
