Sub $3000 Leisure/Commuter Bike For Hilly Area [Final Choice: Priority Current]

Hi there, have you considered the Rize RX? It's $2,600 U.S. and has a 48V 19.2ah battery, Bafang Ultra motor, good lights, nice fenders, solid cargo rack, very decent components, hydraulic brakes, cadence & torque sensors....I've had one for 2 months and several hundred miles and it's a great...

RX or RX Pro - would you switch?

I chose the RX after initially ordering the RX Pro. The reason for the change was an honest analysis of my intended riding, which is mostly road, and the 6lb. weight savings. I have absolutely no need to be pushing those big tires around. I've put well over 300 miles on my RX and it's been a...

$2000 and You Wanna Buy An eBike?

Ultra at M2S looks nice, similar to the Bolton and Eunorau, but better forks, better derailleur and bigger battery (same as the Rize). I didn't want 4" tires, and I do commute, so getting lights, rack, and fenders all in for $2,599 on the RX won my $$. Ultimately, you have to pick what's best...

$2000 and You Wanna Buy An eBike?

What customer service? DTC isn't there to provide much after the sale service, so I have no expectations. My bike did come with through axles, and many others who got the same model at the same time received QR axles. I wrote them and asked why, and never heard back. Mind you, I didn't ask...

$2000 and You Wanna Buy An eBike?

I think it's nice to hear a bike shop operator's perspective on DTC bikes and some of the potential disappointments for unsuspecting consumers. Perhaps a bit of hyperbole mixed in, as there are some good DTC companies out there making very nice bikes at reasonable prices. However, any consumer...

Rize RX – Hits and misses new owner version

Interesting, and disappointing for me that mine doesn't.

Rize RX – Hits and misses new owner version

Your RX has QR front axle? Mine does not. What about the rear, is that QR, too?

Rize RX – Hits and misses new owner version

I got the bar end mirror and it is a perfect fit for my RX, and location is out of the way, but perfectly placed for viewing.

    Frey Owners in Australia

Hi Mark, I emailed Frey for pricing on an HT1000 in very early August. Cecelia from Frey replied two days ago, on Sunday, October 25th. I'd given up on them long ago, and took delivery of a Rize RX instead. 2 1/2 months for a reply to place an order is ridiculous. I voted with my wallet...

    Nireeka Prime Review

I'm not sure what the fascination is for 4" tires on ebikes. They are heavy, more rotational mass, and make the bikes look gigantic. Why not just put some more appropriate MTB tires on and get an even lighter, better handling bike?

An ebike brand named GASGAS lol

No, not owned by KTM. Operated by the same parent company: Pierer Mobility AG, they own and operate KTM, Husqvarna, and GasGas.

An ebike brand named GASGAS lol

GasGas is a well-known off-road motorcycle manufacturer. Not a new company by any stretch. Used to be a Spanish company, I believe, but now owned by same company that operates KTM, iirc.

bike stand for maintenance for an ebike

Oh boy, I couldn't agree more. As much as like the stand above, lifting the bike into it is work. Every time I use it I am thinking......if it only had a hydraulic lift, or pneumatic.

bike stand for maintenance for an ebike

I picked this up on Amazon for $89 shipped. Holds up to 60lbs. Easy to assemble and secures the front wheel/ handlebars to keep them from flopping about. So far, it's been a great stand. Has a useful tool tray on the upright, too.

Rize RX – Hits and misses new owner version

Rode 24.4 miles of rolling up and down, hilly roads with a full charge. Finished with 52% of battery and plenty of range remaining. All riding in eco, zero throttle, PAS 1, except for big hills where I briefly used 2-5. Growing more confident in range and how far I can venture from home...

Rize RX – Hits and misses new owner version

Commuted to work today. 8.25 miles round trip, with about an extra half mile thrown in for my lunch run. Not far, but hilly. Stayed in Eco PAS 1 with brief forays to 2 and 3 for the steepest hills. Returned home with range at 44 miles and 82% battery remaining. Will avoid Sport for best...

Rize RX – Hits and misses new owner version

I weigh 220. The folding lock is probably 3-4 lbs including its mount. I switched my original order for RX Pro to the RX because I determined the 2.75 inch wide tires are plenty for my riding, and the RX is 6 lbs lighter. Weight is definitely on my mind, and I would like to get myself down...

Rize RX – Hits and misses new owner version

Nope. I was wrong. Sorry, I thought it could be toggled to 12 hour time keeping.
