    When there's no dealer...

As ebikes get more popular the fact of most Americans being overweight will make range be a bigger issue. Radpower has a range calculator, based on my weight with throttle only, I could go 16 miles. Range could improve about 10% a year in batteries. But I live next to a beautiful lake that is 35...

How to pick a bike for Bafang BBSHD

Adrian, those bikes were light. But in snow that wasn't compacted in the up direction, they were prime candidates for an electric kit. Mud might tell a similar story in the up direction.

How come the 2015 Pedego Interceptor (48V/10Ah) costs $645.00 > the 2016 Aerial Rider (48V/11.6Ah)?

I see on the Pedego website that the latest Intercepter comes in a 48 volt 10 amp or a 48 volt 15 amp option. If you add the bike to the shopping cart there is no option for the 15 amp. Anybody know how to get the option selection? Like Christopher I am window shopping, but it is fun to do.

    Noseless saddle

I bought a Schwinn comfort cruiser seat from Walmart. It has big springs on the top half underneath, and below them it has tight wound plunger springs. The plunger springs are the secret to a comfortable seat, they stop the rebound from hitting your bottom with the same force it started at. This...

Rad Power, how is it so in-expensive

Here is a fun review of the Radrover The review is about 1/2 hour but it gives good detail. Definitely need to add fenders on the fat tires as they really splash dirt and mud up. MLB I argued with you about needing hydraulic brakes before. I was wrong. Being too new to them, I had them...

    March of Electric Technology

The speed of the rate of direction switching on the magnets, the thinness of manufacture to prevent waste(lower cost) and increase energy density. Makes me think maybe that is how the Stromer 2 sport is making a motor that makes no noise. I would love to find out what the real answer for the...

    My Next Build

BikesDirect.com BD also sells a nice Titanium front suspension bike. They did all the tricks to make it light. It has 160 mm rotors but they are icetech to make up for that. Low suspension travel, but quality to make up for that. Titanium is being advertised as Carbon weight that won't break...

Court's Bosch vs. Yamaha Mid-Drive Comparisons

I wonder if the Yamaha is cutting out at higher rpm because it is trying to stay below a certain speed, or is the motor at it's maximum rpm?

Falcon bikes - too many unknowns?

Vlad, I saw video of Court interview Falcon bikes' engineer at Interbike 2015. Water cooled hub motors. Small ball bearings for way more torque efficiency. Those innovations had me excited about the offerings from Falcon. But the bikes look like they are very similar from previous years, no...

    2016 KTM Macina Race X1-11-cx5

Eddie J, the fork is listed as a Rockshox fox. 2 different companies, probably a typo. I like the sram 1150 cassette, that is the sweet spot for lightness and strength (not making chips due to the metal being overly light). The light cassettes are good for racing but need to be replaced after...

2015 Izip Dash vs 2016 Juiced CrossCurrent

Locking a wheel is the limit for stopping. But well modulated brakes let you get close to lockout without locking out. Single and double finger brakes make your hands less tired, so you can ride further and more often. I know it is not cardiovascular endurance, but mental endurance runs off of...

How to pick a bike for Bafang BBSHD

Cameron, thanks for the detailed information. A year ago I was reading about a sweet 6 inch travel fullsuspension BD bike and the MTBR forum gave me info on the bike. Maybe the scratches and dents were due to delivery, or BD upped their quality. But thanks for the info, correcting someone is...

How to pick a bike for Bafang BBSHD

Hi Vladsbeat, Fatbikes are heavy and usually miserable to ride with their weight, so they are a prime candidate for the powerful HD. Bikesdirect.com is a clearing house for European overstock bikes. The prices can be 60% lower. No sales tax and free shipping to all States. MTBR.com forums shows...

    Brakes still squeaking

I notice metal brake pads have shiny metal flakes in the area around them. Seems like it would make an inhalation hazard in an apartment, so I rinse mine off before bringing the bike indoors. Organic pads might have a benefit beyond being quiet.

    Did I blow the controller?

Atticus21, your setup is what I am dreaming about getting. What happened is nightmare . Hard to believe the system would be that sensitive to a static spark, maybe the capacitors held residual charge. Please keep us posted on how this turns out, I am on the edge of my seat waiting.

What's up with the www.em3ev.com site?

Looks like em3ev is now selling complete kits. Luna cycle still makes you have to choose options in the "make it a kit" section. That is new for em3ev I think. As I was looking for them before but didn't see them. Probably what the website was doing.

    This is a cool bike

Jim W, looks like your tires have a lot of tread on them. But the rubber can start to get hard and cracked if ridden over oil a lot. When that happens the tires start to get flats more frequently. Tires aren't that expensive so it isn't that big of deal to replace them. Just something to watch...

Short Term update on my bike and needed repairs, misc rambling

Hitting a pedal on a curb can bend it, that feels really bad after a while. Court in his reviews points out the quality of pedals. And the difference between a Wellgo brand and a department store brand is night and day. Good pedals won't break on 1 hit.

Pedego Stretch Review - better than an Interceptor?

George S, I saw your article you wrote at electricbike.com, wow, that is neat! Lately it is on the front of Luna cycles webpage also. Plus you have the nice new photo for your posts here, looking good. I think heavier bikes get a "cadillac" feel just from their weight, despite no suspension...

Video interview with Paul from EM3Ev

The part of the video where he talks about a fuse for every cell in a battery, sounds like it would fix these cheap device fires, if it were made a law.
