    Greetings from Ohio!!

Was turned on to e-bikes by the ad for the supercommuter by Trek. Went in and bought a Powerfly full suspension and returned to mountain biking 25 years after I had last had one. Love it! ride every day with good weather. Find a positive E-bike group to get more information and positive vibes...

If you had $3K burning a whole in your pocket?

That's a great deal, if you want road and gravel that is the one for you. Trek and Bosch are brands that will stand up for the warranty. No offense to Lunacycle but German and USA products beat the s*it out of Chinese motors/batteries.

How many miles have you travelled on the e-bike(s) that you currently own?

I've ridden about 1500 miles on my Trek Powerfly 8 FS since April. I've ridden strictly singletracks, only about 15 miles on the road. (Link Removed - Attachment No Longer Exists)

    Using E-Bike off road

I keep telling myself that falling makes me younger. If we're all out there when we're 65 riding singletracks the world would be a better place 8).

    Using E-Bike off road

I ride off-road, trails, singletracks and no-trails on a Trek Powerfly 8 FS. I do small jumps, rock features, downed trees etc.. I can say Specialized (too expensive imo), Trek, Pivot, etc are probably your best bets. I went with Trek because there is unbelievable support locally for me and the...

Your favourite e-bike company and why

Trek, I've got 1k miles of singletracks in since March. The full suspension Powerfly is mindblowing in the woods. I've tried Giant and considered Specialized. I've investigated most of the others as of Spring 2017 and went with Trek - Not sorry at all. I'm completely satisfied. Local Trek store...

Who is , or will be , the Dell of ebikes ?

Trek used Shimano in 2015 which is why those bikes are discounted (I don't believe they use Shimano in 201718) Look at Europe for Treks 2018 line - 12 NEW E MTB MODELS. The big bicycle companies are doing really good things, have the infrastructure, have the technology. If you want cheap (the...

Got an offer is it worth it.

I would never buy a seat suspension if you're riding trails/singletracks/downhill. The full suspension is great and you won't really have problems with an ebike than you do no non-assist bikes commuting with full suspension. You can lock out the suspension and that works fine but you WILL want...

Why Electric Bikes Shouldn't Be Allowed on Mountain Biking Trails?

E-Mtb should be able to be used on trails. I find myself giving way for other cyclists and hikers because It's easier to gain momentum. I often turn assist off if wishing exercise or on for riding with my much faster friends. I use a class I pedelec, I agree throttle e-bikes should not be allowed.

Known Issues & Problems with Trek Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

Front fork shock has the setting on the front, rule of thumb to start is use rubber ring to set at 20% just by sitting. The rear shock is ? 1 psi per pound of body weight? I use the 20% rule there as well to start and dial it more/less depending on how I feel about it. Both shocks have max...

Powerfly 5 FS - Any opinions

Yes, I'm experiencing the same thing on the range. Eco full charge used to be 65-70 miles, now a lot less although I normally hit 30 miles of singletrack in tour mode which hasn't changed.

Riding an e-bike in "no-assist" mode - how heavy is ok?

I ride a Trek Powerfly and stay on singletracks. When I ride with my kids I turn assist completely off and depending on the day average 6-9 mph of beginner/intermediate singletrack 10 mile rides. I've been riding for about four months and reduce assist and turn off assist more and more. I turn...

    What would you upgrade?

I've replaced my rear wheel with a line comp 40 after smashing my bearings. The Sun Ringle is considering a rebuild with new parts but I'm looking at other wheels to have a set to switch while I do any maintenance or inspections. I'm considering better wheels in the future and I need to inspect...

People for Bikes: Progress on Ebike Laws in the US

Classes get the product into the world. In case you haven't noticed the only place people are accepting E-bikes is on the road. As long as ebikes are lumped into throttles/mopeds we'll be banned by land managers and greenways. The benefit to the label is for the consumer to understand their...

People for Bikes: Progress on Ebike Laws in the US

This is likely for the consumer at the time of purchase not for continued use to describe the equipment. I support the class system as it will define what's available to ride on singletracks, trails and greenways. Enforcement? laughable, they can't stop rapists or muggers how are they going to...

    E Biking: the Dark Side

It's been a struggle in my local online community. I've now given up as some local area people have proven they have no problem lying in order to influence locals to keep ebikes off singletracks. I've yet to see a no e-bikes sign and near my house I'm a member of a local conservation org and I...

What's the best E-MTB motor? Article...

The ruggedness of the motor itself, armor should be a consideration as well. Moving up over rock and logs at speed hasn't even slowed my Bosch motor. At first the sound of the armor hitting the tree gave me pause but it's pretty tough.
