    New England eMTBers?

No group has ever gained compromise through following the rules banning their equipment/behavior. Emtb's will be outselling mtb's in a few years and Federal Rangers have even said it's a social problem not a environmental or use problem. Emtb's will bring many more people to the sport - it's a...

Bosch Performance CX Total Distance Travelled

That is off-road yes. I think I will start to rotate my chains to make the cassettes last but really chain/cassette is about $85.00 so maintenance isn't that bad.

Need help on final choice of first ebike

Civil Suits are a thing... But you SHOULD know the laws - Check People For Bikes" and see the ebike laws.

Need help on final choice of first ebike

Everyone will tell you where you can/can't ride. No one knows what the laws will be next year. I would buy a bike supported by a local bike shop, no throttle and from a company that has made bicycles in the past with a good history. Also - Demo ride at least SOME ebikes before making decisions.

Ebikes - Narrow, rocky trails? Not so sure...

Grew up in Tolland, Rode MTB's back before shocks were a thing. Storrs used to have trails to Mansfield Dam, plus all the old trails around made by dirt bikes. I do remember there was a great State Park I used to go for Tourmaline? (Huntington?) I think there were trails there in the 80's as well.

Ebikes - Narrow, rocky trails? Not so sure...

Kurt - Follow mtb sites to find out about tires, trails and stuff. Trailforks is a GREAT app to find new trails and different types.

Ebikes - Narrow, rocky trails? Not so sure...

The E-MTB mode is dependent on cadence and torque. It allows for battery saving without switching all the time. I did like the sport mode but sacrificed it for Emtb. I generally stay in Tour mode but I do have a non-emtb friend I have to stay in turbo to keep up. The guy is a monster but teaches...

Ebikes - Narrow, rocky trails? Not so sure...

No, guys with batteries in their backbacks are future spine crushed victims. It's absolutely the biggest problem those of us riding singletracks consider when riding. There ARE specific backpacks for carrying batteries but you DO NOT want to just dump it in your osprey pack. The added weight...

    Possible downside to speed pedelec / class 3 / 28 MPH ?

If you don't see speed pedelecs being restricted to road use only (no greenway, no bike lane) you are not paying attention. This year many manufactures have come out with versions of the commuters in Class I versions. I believe this is the direction the laws are going to go particularly if...

    Best dual-suspension trail bike...

Class I emtb? Haibike, Pivot Shuttle, Kenevo, Trek Powerfly, Bulls, Cube, JAM, Canyon, Santa Cruz, Scott, Ghost, Moustache, LaPierre. All have good and bad I guess. What brand is going to have LBS support? Lifetime warranty? Backwards compatibility? What makes a current good e-MTB? Progressive...

Poll: Do you wear a helmet when riding

I always wear a helmet with my ebike. I have a regular rockhopper I ride with folks at lunch on a paved greenway for 20 minutes that is a low speed, flat ride I do not wear a helmet for. It's more of a fresh air, team building thing than anything else.

    Possible downside to speed pedelec / class 3 / 28 MPH ?

People bash the Bosch as resistance but imo there is no issues within the assist range wind, no wind or hills. Cadence is what matters.

    Reaction to first ebike experience

No, not really it's been a year. At least for me with the Powerfly FS on the singletracks it hasn't. All anyone has to do is propose a ride and I'm there, otherwise I'm soloing mtb trails or woods around my house.

USFS Allows Emtb in Mammoth Bike Park

The real problem is a social problem. I think the USFS sees that now. Much like Rangers in DC and elsewhere have stated. Class I's will be allowed everywhere. It will just happen piece by piece slowly to accommodate social change. Forest Service Allows Emtb's

Mid drives vs Hub drives ???

Depends on what kind of experience you want. For as close to a bicycle for repair/maintenance and/or MTB = mid drive. Cheap = hub. It was no contest for me choosing a mid drive for mtb singletracks. If you want a commuter, sure I'd consider a hub knowing that any wheel issue would suck balls.
