    Evelo, Gazelle, or Priority

Consider adding dropper post to whatever bike you buy. There are even some with built in suspension, may take bit researching to find.

Can someone explain to me e-bike maintenance

When comes to degreasing best not to do it on bike as degreaser can drip down into motor bearings and degrease them. No problem on manual bike where crank can be serviced. Get rear wheel spokes checked/tension by shop every 6-12months. Once you start breaking spokes on regular basis then wheel...

    Evelo, Gazelle, or Priority

Given your knee I'd consider bike with throttle but nonthrottle ebike with clipons and Turbo your good leg should be able to get you home. I'd consider old school toe clips and straps for your good foot, only tighten fit strap if you are down to one leg.

Charging Ebikes on EV Charging stations

As long as signs say EV (Electric Vehicle) charging you have as much rights as electric car owner to use charger. Sooner or later you will endup debating this point with driver that wants to use charger bay you are occupying.

    Quality first but dollars count!

Please post photo of your new toy when buy it. NB "N+ rule" also applies to ebikes, as many of us members can attest to.

Given this is luxury item only you can determine how much is to much. When it comes to hill climbing PerformanceLine 65nm is definitely stepup in power compared to 50nm. Trade is lot more maintenance, belt drive only needs check and maybe tension of belt every 1000kms. For derailleur you...

    Quality first but dollars count!

If looking at Gazelle the spec level and power will go up with price. Longevity of parts is same regardless of spec level. Entry level shimano brakes and gears are just as reliable as high end ones. Edit I go for C8 with belt and mpre powerful Activeline Plus. Belts almost maintenance free...

    Step through MTB options?

Are you buying MTB for you or wife?. Mild MTB is XC in my book which typically means 100mm airfork and good 2pot brakes.

    Quality first but dollars count!

5-10yr life for ebike as battery and motors will most likely need replacing depending on mileage. After market support for electrics will be issue. I stick with Specialized, Yamaha, any of Bosch powered ebikes and Shimano ones using Shimano factory battery. I'd avoid custom batteries on Shimano...

Carbon X vs. Dahon Unio E20

If buying for airtravel do some research on what batteries airlines will let you carry. Ask airline as they decide if you fly with your battery not bike manufacturer. Best get answer in writing to show check in at airport. Europe is both power (250w) and speed limited (25kmh). While bike may...

Helmet, lock and air pump for an e-bike novice

Name brand helmet from LBS where they can help with fit is by far the most important feature. Different brands tend to suit different head shapes, may be cheapest or most expensive works for your head. Try lots brands and models. Check for forehead coverage (lower better), push helmet around...

There are few dodgy suburbs that would give Mordor a run for its money.

Evelo Galaxy Lux vs. ***??????*** HELP!

Don't writeoff 20" tire bikes until you try one. Most run balloon tires that help give better ride. You didn't say what bike was for. Commuting if so how far and what terrain. Lesiure ride how far a day? Trekking?

First commuter ebike: Level.2, Prodigy, Vado 3, or another mid-end?

Entry level from name brand is good place to start especially if don't know if all weather commuting is you. Brose has 50nm motor while some of the others are 40nm (verve2+, gazelle city). With hills and head wind 50nm is minimum I'd recommend. While extra speed of class 3 is nice, for distance...

    New zealand is open again

Central Otago rides are good place to start. Classic Otago rail trail, Lake Dunstan, Clutha gold trail. Weather is best between Oct-April, typically warm and sunny. Can still be good in May as this month is lot milder in last few years thanks to global warming. Expect some frosty starts in April...

    Air compressor

I use dive tank to set bead on tubeless tire. Remove valve and hold stem to tank outlet with bit cloth, don't forget ear muffs. Have to be careful not blow tire given its 3000psi but so much leakage normally not issue. Once bead is set fill with sealant, fit valve and inflate with pump. For...

    Cheap DIY Battery Modules

I'm surprised more kits aren't using new 36V and 40V powertool battery packs. Being able to use a free powertool battery pack rider all ready owns would make for cheaper build. Might also help in powertool sales. I'd find it it lot easier to justify purchase of expensive 40V powertool if battery...

Need help with low end torque!

AHicks is on right track. Hub drive bikes typically have cadence sensing controller, different power levels are typically a speed setting. Will apply full power until that speed is meet. Changing gearing will not help you. You maybe able to change speeds settings for different PAS levels There...
