Recommend a DIY kit source for my 1st build please

Ironies of ironies.....that is the bike I used for my 1st conversion. My current commuter is a Titanium frame bike (from BD) with a BB02 Bafang 750W drive and a 52V 13.5AH Shark Pack from Luna Cycles. My commute is 15 miles one way and I easily keep the bike moving 28 mph on the flats. I...

HUB vs MID DRIVE - how can I compare?

Because the market demand is there, and they work........I've read and reread the endless debate about hub/mid and when you boil it down to the nth degree it's a matter of personal preference. Most ebike riders have ridden or owned both types and for their own reasons end up preferring one...

    My Next Build

answer #1 - No because my commute is 90% paved roads. Previous builds do have front shock suspension and it does help if your riding will be on trails or bike paths that are rough. The Titanium build is light with a short wheelbase built for speed. It isn't much fun riding on rough...

48v Continental Mid Drive on its way

After reading the description it looks like a winner. My only concern (would have been) the ability to change cadence settings on the fly which the drive can do. Instead of discreet individual gears you have a constantly variable cadence (gear ratio) which works on the fly........ "Where with...

    My Next Build

It's superb, everything I wanted. I ride it between 150-175 miles per week until winter in the NE sets in. With the Titanium frame it's light and strong, and the BBS02 750W @ 52V (even down regulated to max 18A) puts out all the power I want. The Rohloff 500/14 IGH is the "icing on the cake"...

Known Issues & Problems with Bafang Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

Make sure the crank arms are tight. I have to occasionally tighten the crank arms on the bikes with BBS02 750W motors. I know the bolts are not tight when I hear a rhythmic clicking noise as I pedal. In my case the right crank is always the looser as it's my dominant leg (strength). The 1st...

    Bike Selection. Please read!

I'm not impartial because I've only used two types of motor kits. I've used MAC geared hub from https://em3ev.com/ the MAC geared hub is a very capable motor that would provide all the power you need. The owner, Paul, is a very knowledgeable source. em3ev, builds their own battery packs of...

Depends how you classify the "industry leader". They certainly are a well known manufacturer, but there are many good kits available. BionX is one of the most expensive kit manufacturers but there are a lot of very good kit manufacturers to choose from beyond BionX. Court J.

HUB vs MID DRIVE - how can I compare?

I use the ancient standby method; a hot motor indicates inefficient operation. Electric motors reach zero torque at maximum RPM, and maximum torque at zero RPM. Best practice keep the motor as cool as possible under all riding conditions. Court J.

    Question about diy build

What are you going to use for the motor; mid-drive, or rear hub? If you use a mid-drive the answer is yes. If you use a rear hub you have to make sure the hub is mechanically compatible with the cassette........i.e. threaded, keyed, number of sprockets 7/9/11. Court J.
