I would love some suggestions for the right e-bike for me

You may find that once you have an ebike that it is much more than just an alternative form of transportation. You may find yourself looking forward to getting out and riding without a destination. If you hope to improve your fitness, then a relatively lightweight Class 1 or Class 3 bike will...

    Knee and elbow pads?

I think that we should give Wes a break from the drama before he leaves the forum forever, (this has not been a good introduction to the forum). His questions were simple and straightforward and deserving of responses devoid of agenda. Let’s play nice.

    Knee and elbow pads?

Regarding pedals, these may be worth considering. My wife has a set and they are still nearly like new after more than 1,000 miles. The treads are replaceable and they have built in reflectors. Look makes very good cycling products. You can find them on Amazon or many other online stores.

    Knee and elbow pads?

Stefan is a prolific poster on here. He rubs some people the wrong way, but I have always found him to be interesting, informative and engaging. He gets a lot of people talking and tends to keep the conversations lively, so in my opinion, he adds a lot to this forum. Stefan is also proud of...

    Yamaha Y-01W AWD & Y-00Z MTB

Being e-bikes, I doubt that either bike is designed with the intention of being used in a sanctioned event. These “concept bikes” are typical, where they are just testing the waters.

    Knee and elbow pads?

A good helmet is probably the most important protection, but the best protection is good bike handling skills. If you are having trouble handling the bike, I would suggest taking it to a forgiving area, (soft), so that you can practice whatever maneuver is causing you problems. Maybe you could...

    Yamaha Y-01W AWD & Y-00Z MTB

I think that we have to remember that these are “concept” bikes. I doubt that Yamaha will ever produce them. The gravel bike’s frame looks like it would be lacking in vertical compliance and the fixed stem/handlebar is a trend that I can’t get behind. Racks that can’t be adjusted or...

    Yamaha Y-01W AWD & Y-00Z MTB

There is so much that I don’t like about both of these concepts that I don’t know where to start. I suppose that they will get good publicity for Yamaha and get people talking. If that is the intent, then I guess that it’s not in vain.

    Road weenie karma

Sorry, but it sounds like you were in their way, (your own words) Then there was your response to me; “I don't exist to rescue road weenies.” So why are you upset that they didn’t offer to help you????? They don’t exist to rescue you either. You start a thread with derogatory terms aimed...

    Road weenie karma

No, I got that part. So a couple guys show up with a problem similar to yours. They can’t get to the air because you are blocking it. It doesn’t appear that you needed help because at this point you are nearly done. They may have been annoyed that you were blocking access to the air pump, but...

    Road weenie karma

You could have been a good ambassador for ebikes and offered some assistance the the roadie. An opportunity missed. The roadie probably has a story to tell about the guy on the ebike that offered no help. Perception is reality.

2023 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

We were riding through Brownsville Vermont yesterday and met this group. The grey Harleys are a 1915 and 1916. Both are F head V twins and both have done the Cannonball Run.

    E-Bikes On Legal, Paved Trails

Well Jason, I can tell you that it is not regional in this situation. I am about forty miles north of you. Your perception is probably biased by your paranoia and delusions and not based on reality. Keene is not as you describe and you always seem to sensationalize any topic so that you can...

    E-Bikes On Legal, Paved Trails

As an old roadie and current ebike and road bike enthusiast, I actually find your comments prejudicial and a bit elitist. Very few serious cyclists ride bike paths and to call them all “Effite, elitist, jackass snobs the lot of ‘em” seems a bit ironic.

Were You Moving Away From E-Bikes, What Traditional Bicycle Would You Buy?

Both have benefits and shortcomings. It depends what you seek from your riding experience. I still enjoy both and hope that I can continue to ride both. For Stefan, the ebike has improved his fitness to the point where he may be able to expand his riding experience to include unassisted...

Were You Moving Away From E-Bikes, What Traditional Bicycle Would You Buy?

Titanium can be more flexible than desired, but it depends a lot on the alloy and tube shape. I was approximately 165 pounds when I had my Litespeed Ultimate, (a 2003 model). It was plenty stiff where it needed to be, but it had nice vertical compliance. I could hammer pretty hard back then...

Were You Moving Away From E-Bikes, What Traditional Bicycle Would You Buy?

Point taken. A good gravel bike can also be ridden on the road as well and will help to improve strength and endurance. Here in northern New England our roads are far from perfect and far from boring, but I understand and respect your perspective. I rode a lot in the Czech Republic and the...

Were You Moving Away From E-Bikes, What Traditional Bicycle Would You Buy?

For what it’s worth, I always found that road cycling provided the best endurance and strength building workout. A lightweight road bike with good gearing and carefully chosen terrain will probably do the most to get you into the condition that you seek, (sub compact crank and an 11x32 cassette...
