My very rookie guess would be that bumpy roads would make all of the parts on this thing shake, and possibly fall out of alignment. Not sure if that's true or not, but this definitely doesn't seem like a mountain bike - then again, I could never get the front suspension fork to unlock.

The Saris rack is rated to carry two bikes at 35lbs each, so total of 70 lbs weight limit. That includes the hitch. I was considering buying a hitch like the one you purchased, but don't feel good about having to go to U-haul to have it installed. When it comes to installing something to the frame of my car, I want capable hands. Still, you paid $100 less! :-)

Hmmmmm, does anyone remove their rack? My parking garage is someone compact, and it would help to not have the added length of the rack to contend with all the time.

I heard people will steal them, if you leave them on your car in public. I have a security parking garage at home and at work, but parking in public would seem to necessitate removing the rack.
