Dealing with rear wheel tire punctures

Agree completely.. Don't mess with sealant, and always have a spare tube and patch kit and pump or Co2. The best way to change your tube is at home when you don't have to worry about it... Practice going thru all the steps needed to disconnect the motor and remove the rear wheel, remove the...

Whoa...Check out my battery gauge after my first 9 mile commute!

Have fun! Those battery gages are notoriously inaccurate... If you really want to know how much range you really have... Start with a full charge, and write down the battery gage level every 10 miles until you hit 10% or lower voltage cutoff.. Then you will know what that gage really means.

    Bionx enter receivership

That's interesting.. Yamaha is usually a premium priced product in general (price their outboard motors or generators!).. Guess they hope to undercut Trek, Shimano and Bosch.. Good luck.

Yep Aluminum frame bikes have much lower weight limits, unless you buy a heavy duty model.. That's why I favor chrome moly bikes.. Steel is much more ductile, heaveir wall and can take abuse like no other material.

Good luck and have fun.. ! Please make sure you have someone tighten and true those wheels before you ride. I would get the most puncture resistant tire you can find for that rear wheel (I like Maxxis Excel) because changing a tube is a pain in the butt, esp on the road. Or perhaps a tire...

    Completely new and seeking input/direction

Go for it dude! IMO get a direct drive motor rear wheel (not a gear drive) and a battery that is around 48v 20ah with a 40 amp controller. You should find that combo more than adequate for your needs and simple operation. 36v would also be fine but a little slower.

You won’t find anything more reliable than a direct drive hub motor. There are a lot of stories with BaFang mid drives. Check Endless Sphere website

    Bionx enter receivership

Electric Rider was pushing Bionx pretty hard for the last couple of years.. Went to their website and you cannot actually buy anything right now.. They are either restructuring or having inventory problems.. A lot of good companies have come and gone in the 10 years I've been following ebikes.

Having the motor in front makes it easier to remove the rear wheel. And better balance. Just can’t have a lot of power on the front firks.

I think its great that you want to upgrade your bike and your range with an ebike kit. If I were you i'd contact ElectricRider in texas.. You can actually speak to them on the phone! They will probably recommend a Direct drive hi torque motor and a battery that deliver high amperage..OR...

    Throttle or No Throttle?

I think you get used to what you have. However I’ve owned throtte only bikes and PAS and throttle bikes. PAS wins hands down. the range is much better for the same battery, and you can reach higher speeds, like 28 mph with PAS bikes.

    Ancheer 20' folding e-bike 36v 8AH or the Oyama CX E8D e-bike Which one should I get?

YW.. Don't be lured by the internet when it comes to ebikes...saving a couple hundred is not worth it. It takes a personal fit and a nice test ride for you to decide.

    Newbie

Dont buy anything until you AND your mom have spent a couple of afternoons renting ebikes and riding around.. If there's nothing near you make a day of at a larger town than rents ebikes. Have fun! You and your mom have to decide what you're comfortable doing, and if riding several days a...

Putting my trust in my friends here.

I'd go with a geared drive for the front wheel, knowing that you will have to replace those gears in a couple of years. They are lighter and a better fit for the front... If you are looking at steep hills, better get a HD controller and large capcacity battery to provide more amperage...
