    25kph/15.5mph or 32kph/20mph Vote

25kph seems painfully slow. A quick check on the NZTA webpage reveals that in fact there is no speed limit imposed on ebikes here as long as you are riding within the designated legal limit. There is however a limit on the motor 300w, but as you correctly pointed out, these motors are likely...

    25kph/15.5mph or 32kph/20mph Vote

It's often possible to go faster than the motor will allow, but I understand that here in NZ pedelec bikes are limited by power output to a maximum speed of 32kph with 350w motor. Of course, there are bikes available with a much higher motor output, these are sold on the understanding that they...

Show us pictures of where you ride your ebikes!

looks like a great setup with pannier to carry some wet weather gear and just head off into the countryside. The great thing about ebikes is that once you get one, you find reasons to ride, so just heading out across the countryside for a coffee and a sausage sarnie...aye that's the way to spend...

    Seatpost size......

There could possibly be a marking somewhere on the original seatpost to indicate what diameter it is..some do. or as the previous comment suggested, remove the post and measure it yourself, or just take it with you to your local bike shop.

    Some suggestions please...

Test ride as many demonstrator bikes as possible and narrow down your choice by finding first a bike that fits and is comfortable to ride then compare various bikes by the features they have. Consider your requirements, how far do you want to ride, what type of riding (pavement or off road) or a...

Need advice. Bike for getting to work. Rust proof?

have you tried looking at the used ebike market? My best advice is to test ride as many demonstrator bikes as possible and at least find a bike that is the right fit for you, one that is also capable of what you want in range and performance. Narrow down your choices to a few models that suit...

A Teenager Hit Six Cyclists While Trying To Roll Coal And Was Not Arrested

And therin lies part of the issue, consumerism. It starts at home, teaching our kids to make better choices, the difference between needs and wants. So yeah I agree that these manufacturers definitely know how to sell and it is a long road ahead to the world where we are all smart enough to make...

Monster trucks as in off road monster trucks? no I don't think those folks are necessarily part of the issue. I'm not sure that appealing to any particular demographic would have any impact at all. The ones who pose the most danger to cyclists whatever they drive might not be civilised enough to...

A Teenager Hit Six Cyclists While Trying To Roll Coal And Was Not Arrested

yeah I get your point too, an SUV for a school run, I see that kind of thing a lot. As a measure of self preservation, the smartest accessory item I ever bought for my bike was a rear view mirror, I see these large vehicles coming from behind and not knowing whether the driver be a mom doing the...

And some responsibility within the auto industry to create vehicles that actually fit onto much less that half of the carrigeway on any two-lane road. A Hummer as an example is a completely useless and unecessary vehicle and far too wide to be used on many public roads, but no doubt you will...

A Teenager Hit Six Cyclists While Trying To Roll Coal And Was Not Arrested

If you modify a vehicle to make it go faster, it's because you want to go faster. If you modify a vehicle to make it more intimidating or more aggressive then there is clearly an intention to do so. If you intentionally use a vehicle in an aggressive manner to cause harm, it seems to me no...

A Teenager Hit Six Cyclists While Trying To Roll Coal And Was Not Arrested

well yeah that's what I was saying. The front end of that silverado thing has a kind of stance that says "get the f**k outta my way". I really think that there is something to be said about the psycology of the way we drive combined with the vehicle we choose to drive, not always but sometimes...

A Teenager Hit Six Cyclists While Trying To Roll Coal And Was Not Arrested

Is it just my imagination or are these pickup truck type of vehicles and some SUV's each new model seems larger and more aggresive looking than the last model?

    Lights not working

try the simple things first, loose bulb connection? loose wiring connector? check light wiring cables for damage, dirt or water somewhere in the wiring? have a close look at any soldered joints if you can. If everything else is working but the lights are failing, it points to an issue within the...

How to Prevent Flat Tires on Electric Bikes

for hub motor type bikes, it's best to practice getting the wheels off and back on because sooner or later you will likely need to fix a flat. learn how to do this and what tools you may need to carry. I always carry a spare inner tube, a pump and a C02 inflator. It,s easiest with my own bike to...

Smartmotion Pacer power loss and DIY fix.

update: all is well with the pacer/diy fix, torque sensor still working well on the lowest two power settings, it will slightly hesitate on higher settings, however, I have discovered that if I set off first in cadence mode and increase the power to the highest level before switching to torque...
