    I always take the battery out to lift it on the rack. My old eBike was 43 total pounds, 7 less with the battery removed. This is 54. My brother just bought a Thule rack with a ramp. I may go to that. I appreciate the replies and help. Age 79, Mechanicsburg, PA

    BTW: I will never assume that the battery will stay in place during transport. So until I get my sleeve I will use something that does not mar the paint to make sure the battery is secure.

    Ordered from Amazon. I’m sorry I missed the post. just spoke with my LBS. He said he would not remove the battery during transport. He knows what TREK recommends but with rain, dirt , etc he thinks it’s best to keep the cover on.

    My opinion: Get a mid drive bike. All of the motor brands are good but Bosch is very good. As for bike manufacturers stick with the major four. I have 2 eBikes. The handlebars can be raised by inserting a riser piece.
