    Ideas for low cost bike

I'd say a repurposed lead acid battery of any kind is a total nonstarter: very low capacity per pound. If you want 20-40 miles per charge, it probably has to be lithium which means it probably has to be more than $150-$200.

    St2 creaks

...and if that doesn't make a difference and the rhythm of the creaks depends on the speed, it's probably the spokes. I try to do all the maintenance (except electronics of course) myself and found out that I'm too tone deaf to adjust spoke tension by ear, so I got a Park Tool TM-1. Now I can...

    California Riders: Please support AB-1096

If California prohibits ebikes on bike paths by default, it has much less effect on ebike riders elsewhere than this kind of insane classifications, which manufacturers are going to have to pander to. When one state bans this feature on bikes and another state that one and some states ban...

    California Riders: Please support AB-1096

Still includes the throttle superstition that makes a 40 lb 250W bike with a throttle a motorcycle but a 70 lb 750W bike without a throttle a bicycle. Please don't support illogic and insanity.

    Battery help/info needed

Unfortunately electric bike batteries still cost a fortune. $500 actually sounds like a not bad deal if it's certain to be rebuilt to as new specs. Just any 36V battery might not work with the bike if the original was not only dumb cells but had circuitry built in that communicates with the...

Freewheel spacer disappeared on 2015 IZIP E3 Dash?

That's what gets you: it doesn't fall off reliably every time. I was lucky to have it happen the first time in my garage.

    2016 Currie iZip catalog

Nice looking stuff... except that only Metro and Zuma have throttle any more: all others now have only a stupid "boost button", I guess to comply with whatever California legal idiocy. https://sites.google.com/a/currietech.com/help/izip/izip-e3-protour/3-marketing-support/catalog

Freewheel spacer disappeared on 2015 IZIP E3 Dash?

Yes, there is a spacer that looks the same as the one on the left side except without the channel for the power cable and it can fall off when the wheel is off the bike.

    IZIP E3 Protour‎ coming soon?

Well looky here... like Dash but with integrated battery and 400W mid drive: https://sites.google.com/a/currietech.com/help/izip/izip-e3-protour The catalog under Marketing Support has the details. Looks like the 2016 Dash will also be mid drive and with hydraulic brakes. Actually most iZips...

When does an electric bike become an electric motorcycle?

Just rip the throttle off the Brammo and rig something to replace it that you spin with your foot and it becomes a bicycle in the public perception, allowed on any bike paths. :-)

That's a bit steep. You can get as nice fenders and rack for Dash for a fraction of those prices.

    "No Electric Bikes Allowed"

Recruit some combat veterans who need an ebike to ride as poster boys, then paint those certain kind of mountain bikers not only as the violent sociopaths they are but also as ISIS and Al-Qaeda loving America haters.

Questions about "Distance To Go" and "Ah" setting on new display unit

A system like this can't really measure the amp hours in the battery, it can only guess based on the voltage and the capacity. The amp hour setting that you can adjust is probably so you can tell the computer the correct max battery capacity so it can guess. Disclaimer: I'm not an electrician...

    Panasonic Drive Motor Pully

You could try posting a picture and dimensions of it on endless-sphere.com and ask if anyone knows where to get a compatible sprocket. They're tinkering with that kind of stuff all the time.

    Cyclamatic GTE Step-Through Electric Bike

Ok, here goes: it's rather heavy and underpowered considering both motor and battery. 24 Volts is older technology even if it's lithium battery: modern ones are 36 or 48. $600-$800 seems a normal price level for these bikes; it "Was $1900.00" maybe 5 years ago. I'd save my money for something...

    "No Electric Bikes Allowed"

The trail seems to have a 10 mph speed limit for all kinds of bikes which could be violated by any 4 year old on a trike just as easily as by an ebiker, but they feel the special need to totally ban ebikes? What about low flying UFOs and unicorns galloping too fast? Surely those hazards too...

When does an electric bike become an electric motorcycle?

Throttle is eeevil dark magic, you just twiddle your thumb and say "Speedio Changio!" and it makes electrons move and the bike speed up. If you make electrons move and the bike speed up by moving your feet, that's good honest work, almost like walking. Eeeevil dark magic must be vanquished!
