Throwing your leg over an E-Bike

What a great exchange of helpful information this is. I went through the same gyrations and found one more interesting technique: mounting from the sidewalk while the bike wheels were still on the street. It adds five or six inches more to your height. Unfortunately, I had no such sidewalk...

Hello all! My name is Allen Ballard, and I'm the author of a book entitled "Keep on Moving! Another convert

I wish him the best of luck. I'm 88 and wish I could do the same, but my right leg won't support the bike's weight, so I have an e-assist trike.

I am so exited about receiving my e scooter

I do hope you're enjoying your new scooter. I have an electric trike and have multiple mobility issues when walking, but they all seem to disappear when I'm back on my trike. Good luck to you!

Electric Bicycle Fatalities & Injuries Are Rising

Interesting point. Ran into the Amsterdam figures earlier while doing some research. I figured out that the same factors that might lead seniors to seek out e-bikes--decreased mobility and flexibility as a result of aging--, might decrease their ability to control an e-bike. Indeed, on my...

Electric Bicycle Fatalities & Injuries Are Rising

Interesting and, I think, an important caution for seniors. The same factors that might lead a senior to use an e-bike rather than a diamond frame

    etrike suggestions..

Would like to add to the above comment. Trikes come in all kinds of configurations, from adult trikes which are sometimes called "Granny" trikes, to semi-recumbent step-through type trikes, to fully recumbent trikes. All of them can have electric motors added to them, but the basic problem is...

How much of your overall exercise is by riding an ebike? What other exercise do you alternate?

I exercise without using my motor for about six hours a week on my comfort trike. I only use the motor to make sure it works. Other exercise is walking with my rollator about four hours a week. I alternate early morning with one form of exercise, early evening with the other. After...

    Mounting and dismounting

Am 87 and have a very low German made- step thru e-assist trike. It's very stable. In my search for bikes, tried a bunch of diamond-frames, but just couldn't swing my right leg over them. If in doubt, I'd get a good solidly made step thru--after all, back, hip, and knee problems generally...

Looking for step thru, crank forward, PAS + throttle

Try in your own country, the Van Raam Balance Bike. Beautiful and well-constructed crank forward bike with very low step-through. And they have their own well-developed motor to go with it.
