    The new turbo Vado 2017

Interesting, but, a 508 Watt/hour battery pack. May not be a deal breaker. At least the manufacturers are figuring out that people want larger capacity battery packs and 400 Watt/hour units will not be attractive in the future.

New Pedego Ridge Rider Coming With A 14 Instead of 11 Amp Battery . . .

Thanks for your reply, Doug. I wonder if the battery upgrade will be part of a 2017 model upgrade, and not made available as a 2016? That would be my guess, just to keep current 2016 owners from feeling shortchanged.

New Pedego Ridge Rider Coming With A 14 Instead of 11 Amp Battery . . .

I am curious as to where you purchased your bike and if you payed a premium for the upgrade. Their current website does not show this as an option. Is the 17 amp battery a certainty, or is just being shipped in specific instances? Does the 14 or 17 amp battery change the profile of the frame...

Add-E 600W Ebike Kit Video Review

I can see problems with the kit if you take it off road and ride in the mud, or even deep puddles, for that matter. A friction drive will eventually wear, as will the tire. At the price point they are asking, and considering the limited battery capacity, let alone lackluster performance, with...

M2S Bikes All-Go | Carbon Fiber Electric Bike

Aesthetically speaking, this bike gets great marks. The battery type and capacity would be welcome information. I did notic that the CF handlebars / display module is an integrated unit that limits any fitment adjustment for different sized riders. You don't mention available frame sizes, or if...

How struggling can it be to lift a 60lbs eBike to the 3rd floor?

A fat tire bike with large diameter tires at a sensible stair- walking speed, should not be too jarring, I would think. You would just need some finite throttle control to keep it from pulling away from you. A controlled decent riding the disc brakes should also minimize the jarring of the...

How struggling can it be to lift a 60lbs eBike to the 3rd floor?

Just a thought....if you get a bike with a thumb throttle ( or walk mode), couldn't you use the bikes own power to help you (slowly and carefully ) walk it up the stairs? Same way I run a dirt bike up a ramp onto a trailer.

Unique suspension wheel may be the answer for ebikes

i saw this wheel being demonstrated by an Israeli company who first designed it for wheelchairs. They have since designed it for bikes , including a hub motor incorporated ebike they had brought with them, and future plans for automotive applications. Some of the wheels were pneumatic and...

Look out for this at Interbike next week Spīr Electric Bikes

I would be interested in how they dissipate 750 watts of heat inside the frame. If you run a bottle hanger off the seat tube, you might be able to brew a cup of coffee in 10-15 miles or so.

    ST2 Rain/Water Seal Performance?

You can also fill the slot in the rack support with a properly cut/ ground length of steel rod (or even a bolt with the head cut off) to act as a spacer/filler in the slot. You may need a slightly larger outside diameter washer to keep it locked in place.

    an e-bike for the future

If you are suggesting that the front hub Dynamo will offset the electrical requirement of the mid drive, I suggest that this perpetual motion concept has proven unattainable to scientists for years. If you had a one to one ratio of load to electricity produced to electricity generated, the force...

    Next Conversion 48V BBS02 750W

Roy, I noticed that the link was for a lithium ion battery, which might be (potentially) a bit less desirable due to battery chemistry stability concerns ( although it's hard to go wrong with Samsung cells). I also noticed that the locking mechanism causes you to release it from the top, where...

This will be my first e bike build. I do have a fair amount of motorcycle experience with 8 motorcycles in my collection, as well as automotive experience, in some flavor or another, for over the past 42 years. I even worked at a bicycle shop during my teen years. This shouldn't be too...

Sram hydraulic brakesTetra Dorado hydraulic: best ones?

BTW, You can custom tailor your brake line lengths and colors with theses Tektro kits: http://tektro.com It should allow you to do a much neater job for your particular application.

Sram hydraulic brakesTetra Dorado hydraulic: best ones?

I would put the weight of the bike and rider into the equation. I believe the thicker and larger rotors of the Dorado package will be much less subject to heat warpage during hard braking and will act as a bigger/ better heat synch should you ever wish to switch to more aggressive brake pad...

    Next Conversion 48V BBS02 750W

I spent a little more time trying some bikes at LBS. I found a good comfortable fit with a GT Zaskar 29 inch at Performance Bicycle. It does have air forks which seem to suite me when pumped up to about 150 or so. I am curious if the extra 25 or so of motor and battery and my 225 or so weight...

Sram hydraulic brakesTetra Dorado hydraulic: best ones?

I know that the Dorado brakes are set up as e brakes and have Larger and thicker rotors that most of your typical bicycle rotors. The SRAM have 4 piston calipers, but, I don't know if they can be as seamlessly (or neatly) adapted for e bike use.

    Next Conversion 48V BBS02 750W

I was thinking that in the worst case scenario, I can substitute the hydraulic levers for Tektro Dorado hydraulic units so that I can interface directly to the Bafang sensors. Most (but not all) of the mechanical disc brake equipped bikes tend to have lower spec components elsewhere as well. I...
