    Derailleur Cage Size

I've had a bit of trouble changing gears, and have been checking everything out and giving it a good clean. I have an XT Shadow + GS - now that I have a 44T chainwheel, should I be looking at an SGS cage? The Shimano documentation seems to indicate this - if I am reading it correctly that is.

    Specialized TCD-W with built-in anti-theft feature?

This is the reply I received from Specialized Support UK; Thanks for getting in touch regarding your Specialized Vado 4.0. I apologise for the delayed response, we've been experiencing an unusually high contact rate and as such our response times are increased. The anti-theft facility is an...

    Chain ring tooth selection

As you say Stefan, it is all about keeping things in perspective. After a few component changes, I am very pleased with my Vado 4 - and it has made a difference to my life :). And I will be really, really looking after it now.

    Chain ring tooth selection

@Stefan Mikes When you had your display upgraded, were all those parts replaced by Specialized?

    Chain ring tooth selection

I must admit to being a bit taken aback by all this . I was ready to hear that the motor, display etc would be proprietary because of the firmware implications, but not the body parts. I had better look after them.

    Chain ring tooth selection

Just building on your point, I am really surprised that there is not a parts breakdown catalogue, which shows which parts are "dealer only". For instance if I wanted a new fender, front lamp etc. I would not know where to go other than the LBS. And, as we know, all LBS's are not equal :). Is...

    Chain ring tooth selection

From reading the various threads on this forum, it is clear that the after-market business on these bikes is considerable. It is difficult to say just how much of it Specialized is missing out on but, for certain, the ability to pick a larger/smaller battery at the time of purchase would seem...

Specialized Vado Firmware - very little motor drag after 4.0.1 firmware update

@Sierratim How did you get on after the update?

Specialized Turbo Vado SL 5.0 EQ-My 2 cents

I think you will be happy with your Vado 4 when you have it tuned to suit you, and the circumstances. I was a bit reluctant to make changes to my 4, until I cruised this forum, asked for help from members, and talked to Specialized. I have changed 1) the saddle, 2) the seatpost (to simple...

    Vado 5.0 Anti-theft feature?

@TiburonScott I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news yesterday - we all wanted the feature to be there. As you can see from the thread, several people have requested it, so it may happen in the future :). I really would like to be able to disable the bike in some way or another - other...

    Vado 5.0 Anti-theft feature?

Well............... just heard from Specialized Support UK (who are pretty responsive in my experience) : The anti-theft facility is an additional plate sitting beneath the Turbo Connect Display (TCD-W). This is a structural addition rather than software, and should have been installed when...

pretty cool specialized training video for bike shop mechanics to trade out displays

@Mr. Max I keep popping back to this thread to look at this training video - would you mind posting a link to where I could see this and other videos?

    Vado firmware update

I think an issue with the battery is that, as shown on the training video near the end, it needs to be removed from the bike and updated separately with a special usb lead with a battery connection plug on the end.

    Vado firmware update

This is really quite interesting . It is clear that the new norm for the display is 13.4.0, and it seems my battery was set to the latest back in Jan/Feb. I am an ex-IT person, and am used to looking up PC driver versions etc on-line - which normally come with a short explanation of what the...

    Vado firmware update

As a comparison, my firmware versions are: Motor 7.1.1 Battery 9.3.4 Display 12.4.0 This a 2019 Vado 4 purchased in Jan/Feb 2020 and has only been back to the LBS for one maintenance issue (loose motor bolts). Originally I put my battery version down as reflecting the fact that I am in a...

    Vado 5.0 Anti-theft feature?

Since @steph Since @Stefan Mikes just posted his new display firmware, on a different thread, as 13.4 also, I am coming to the conclusion that @TS25 may be correct about this "feature". I would have expected a different firmware edition if a new facility was being offered. Still no reply...

    Vado 5.0 Anti-theft feature?

Many thanks for that :). I have asked Specialized Support UK about the anti-theft feature, and the possibility of having a firmware upgrade to use it. It normally takes 2 or 3 days to get reply, so we will see.......... How are you enjoying the bike?

    Vado 5.0 Anti-theft feature?

As you cruise around the app, can you see anything that looks like a security page? Sorry to keep asking the questions, but you are the best lead we have :). Trying to do a Sherlock :).
