    Ebikes….Cheating?

LOL Some states have relaxed restrictions, but I haven't seen anyone from any state, including CA, who is concerned about it. They could always remove the throttle easily enough if they were worried about it, and they would still get pedal assist to 28 mph (or faster using advanced menu change...

    Ebikes….Cheating?

No, it says "28 mph pedal assist with 20 mph throttle". The "28 mph" cannot be ignored. So, 28 mph would not be class 2. It also states on the website product page specifically that it's class 3, and the emblem on the bike shows class 3. And it's the same bike. Again, I have the bike. On...

    Ebikes….Cheating?

Some states have relaxed restrictions. It's mentioned on this website: https://electricbikereview.com/best-class-3-electric-bikes/ But, on the owners' FB group, I've never heard of anyone removing the throttle, even the many California riders. No one has ever reported an issue riding the...

    Ebikes….Cheating?

It's pretty straight forward. I can assure that my bike is a class 3, provides assistance to 28 mph, and has a throttle. See below. This is the info for my bike: Class 3 designation emblem on head tube: Picture of throttle: Enjoy! :D

    Ebikes….Cheating?

My class 3 bike has a throttle. Class 2 bikes still have PAS - they aren't limited to throttle only.

Fat tired vs regular city bike

Add me to the this vote. My Ride1Up 700 came with these. Pure pleasure after years of riding a hybrid bike with much narrower tires. I also agree recommending against fat tire.

    Ebikes….Cheating?

Bad analogy about guns. Just because your car has air conditioning, cruise control, or various other options, doesn't mean you have to use them if you don't want to. What about Class 2?

    Ebikes….Cheating?

Here's at tip. Just because an e-bike has a throttle doesn't mean you have to use it. My R1U 700 has one, and I've only applied it a bit when first getting rolling to clip my SPD's in. In fact, I do most of my riding in PAS 0 saving assist for hills and headwinds. I've ridden motorcycles...

Sub $3000 Leisure/Commuter Bike For Hilly Area [Final Choice: Priority Current]

I'm interested in this bike as well. There's even more than one style. I like the idea of the quiet mid-drive motor using torque sensor based assist, but the reliability of those belt drive Brose motors is a concern as well. I don't know if there will be any customization of power levels like...

Looking to buy, do I sound realistic?

A throttle isn't "required" on a hub drive cadence sensor bike, either. I only use mine in brief spurts, usually when taking off from a stop, but I could manage fine without one. It's possible it could be very useful if I can't pedal the bike for some reason. So, I'm still glad to have it...

Looking to buy, do I sound realistic?

My rear tire on my 700 went flat after getting home due a nail, and I rode my hybrid with 35c tires for my next few rides. It has a suspension fork and Trek suspension seat post, but it was sure a pleasure to get back on my 700 with 2.4" tires with the gritty and bumpy roads I ride on. So much...

Gazelle Ultimate T10+ vs Trek Allant +8S

How did you purchase this bike in the future? 😆

Looking to buy, do I sound realistic?

Those aren't really fat tires, I wouldn't even call them "plus" tires. My Ride1Up has 2.4" tires. Fat tires are commonly 4" - I think too wide for most purposes.

Rad Rover 6 or Aventon level

You could change the gearing. Instead of having the bike do all the work, use leg power to help climb the hills so that motor isn't doing all the work. You'll get some exercise that way also.

Gazelle Ultimate T10+ vs Trek Allant +8S

Definitely go with a Trek over a Gazelle.

First post looking to get my first e-bike?

The word is that the LMTD will be coming back with the torque sensor later this year or next. As far as Ride1Up no longer having a torque sensor, that's not true. The Prodigy models have torque sensors and are available for order now but not expected to ship until January. The Prodigy...

Congrats on the purchase. You've saved some money with the Espin sale and not paying sales tax.

Espin Sport vs. Ride1Up 700 vs. Aventon Level help me choose

I edited my previous post on this this matter: On my 700, I hadn't verified it was an 11-30T cassette and have almost never used the largest cog, but it ends up it's a Shimano 11-32T, not the advertised 11-30T. Anyway, probably not a big decision making point but wanted to mention it.

Espin Sport vs. Ride1Up 700 vs. Aventon Level help me choose

The 700 has some delay for the power to stop when you stop pedaling also - about a second. The LMTD had this delay also, even with the torque sensor version that's currently not available. The delay that annoys me though is when making PAS changes on the display. They don't take effect...

Espin Sport vs. Ride1Up 700 vs. Aventon Level help me choose

I like the shifter on my 700 XR. Thumb and finger trigger shifting works just like my Trek hybrid that I've been riding for over a decade, and it has the indicator to show what gear you are in. I've known people to change the shifter included on the Ride1Up Core-5, but not on the 700. The...
