Another Sondors CF Campaign.. This one on KS

And that is the major problem with going with the crowdfunding model - you're paying money for a product you're not guaranteed to receive. You also have no real factory support - every time I look at some of the Sondors groups there is always someone complaining of a problem with their bike...

    IZIP E3 Zuma Video Review

I would like to add that after getting home today, I opted to remove the battery so that it could be charged inside (due to the heat in the garage). I did notice that some water had gotten into the battery compartment from yesterday's ride, so take that as a word of caution. To be clear, the...

Could this be the fate of illegal E-bikes?

I've said it in other threads and in other groups that a certain segment of our ebike population is going to ruin it for everyone else. The guys pushing the boundaries of these things are not helping the cause of the electric bicycle and that's obviously compounded further when you have states...

    IZIP E3 Zuma Video Review

Let's see if we can keep the iZip group alive shall we? Did a short little 14 mile jaunt today on the 'ol Zuma. Bike performed flawlessly and once again I still had almost a full battery charge when I got home. I'm only using the bike in PAS level one mode and have not been using the throttle...

    IZIP E3 Zuma Video Review

Finally got the bike paid off and rode it home about 10 miles today in the rain. My phone said I averaged about 12 miles an hour (I was not trying to go fast and I haven't really exercised or rode a bike in years) and I still had almost a full charge on my battery when I got home.

Low key ebikes (ebikes that don't look like ebikes)

I'm picking this up at the end of the week - iZip Zuma and I don't think it looks like an e-bike.

3D Printed Electric Motorcycle Night Rider

Don't forget the nearly $60,000 price tag ;)

    When there's no dealer...

I totally understand that, but what I am getting at is that I keep seeing people saying they want bigger motors for more and more power. Forget about the practical issues that come along with that (again going back to batteries), but it's the simple fact that I think people are going to keep...

    When there's no dealer...

True, but more motor power requires more electrical power to drive it and that brings us back to the battery issue, range, and weight issues. Again, I do not think of these things as being a substitute to a motorcycle or scooter or something along those lines, but many people seem to be doing...

    eBike future support?

I've seen people talk about them, but it wouldn't be something I would want. I plan on commuting to school and around town on mine and having to deal with a trailer on top of the bike is not something I would want to deal with. That's just me though.

    WallyWorld selling E fattie

They also used to sell an eZip model if I remember correctly. My local REI has ebikes, but they are all on clearance for 50% off because they want to get rid of them. I haven't seen them at any other large brick and mortar store besides my LBS. Even my LBS has most of their on clearance to...

    When there's no dealer...

And that also goes back to what I think about these things. I'm in my 40's and I'm not anywhere close to the shape I was in years ago. Add several back, leg, knee, shoulder, and neck injuries into the mix and the last time I used a standard pedal bike for any real distance, I was in physical...

    When there's no dealer...

And that's sort of my point - if people are looking for something like that, they are better off looking elsewhere for a better (and probably cheaper) product.

    When there's no dealer...

I've sort of wondered the same thing since I would assume that people are still peddling their bikes. If the battery dies, you can still peddle your bike home without relying on the battery. The idea behind these bikes is to give you some assistance when you need it, not to act as a...

    Freway VR-01 E-bike—A Lot For a Little

My local bike shop has one of these on clearance and I test rode it. I also test rode some other bikes that had 500w motors and that left me feeling like this bike was very under powered for me (six foot and about two hundred pounds or so). The controls and the LCD display worked well and I...

    When there's no dealer...

I have seen that they seem to be doing well, but like you said that is the DIY side of things. I had looked at doing that, but by time I priced out decent quality parts (stress decent there and not the cheapy $200 kits off eBay) and a cheap donor bike I was at the same price as a factory made...

    Water issues?

I've got a Zuma on hold at a local bike shop, but I'm beginning to have some second thoughts about getting it. Among other things, I want to know what everyone's real world experience has been with regards to rain and what not. We're having horrible weather here right now and I would still be...

    When there's no dealer...

The guys at REI told me they were clearing them out because nobody wanted them. Now I don't know if that's just locally or if that's a national trend with their ebike stock.

    When there's no dealer...

It might just be my local REI location (it's in Plano, Texas if that helps any) and I'm not sure if they will ship to another store or not. If you want their phone number or anything, let me know. I know they have an iZip Dash left and two or three Diamondback bikes and they are all around...
