The transition

Trump said 250 billion, Russia claims 320 billion.
Are they lying?

Well I havent heard a squeak from the EU that this isnt true.

Thats because it is true.

I dont care about sides, they are all evil overlords who treat us as expendable crop, but believing your sides propaganda is exactly want they want.

The endless use of the 'Russia did it' trope is hilarious and dangerous, our PM just blamed Putin for Brexit and his party losing an election, is own foreign
minister had to step in to deny this, but thats another 'oldest trick', 'Oh thats was wrong, but hint, hint weve planted the seed in weak minds'.

Our countries history could not be more different Stefan, I cant possibly grasp what Poland went through under the Soviets, but there is little desire in the UK to be at war with Russia.

50% of British under 30 in the UK said they would never fight...50%!

This could be part of that story.

Are they lying?
You can bet. Did Trump or Putin ever say anything but not a lie?

Poland went under the Soviet rule because when Winston tried to manage it otherwise...
there is little desire in the UK to be at war with Russia.
there was.

You Chris are simply unable to understand Russia is a rotten giant on clay feet now.

Easy peasy. They both are lying. And we know that because they lie all the time, even when the truth would do them some good.

Also, 320 billion what exactly? We know it can't be tons or barrels, because that is so far outside of what is physically possible even in a perfect world. And it seems doubtful it is 320 billion dollars or rubles worth of diesel either. Even less possible with British billions, which are American trillions.

... which is about 14 hours of consumption in the Untied States. Even the somewhat larger, long-term figures aren't enough to move the needle on diesel prices on any time scale.

Somewhere there is an alternate reality where we helped Ukraine and didn't piss off our allies and we made short work of Iran and gasoline is $2 per gallon.

This was all optional.

Its dollars

Can you give a source? That number is unreasonably large. At current prices that would represent about 90 percent of US diesel production. Which would make zero sense. On the other hand it is 2026 and what, indeed, does make sense?

I hate to hit like on that, but it is what I am hearing everywhere on the Eastern US.
People who usually charge at home being shocked at how few places they really could charge on a roadtrip. One friend even sold his almost new EV and leased an ICE car for the next few years. Others claim they will rent a gas car for future roadtrips.
which makes sense,I truly hope my next vehicle( If I can afford to get one) will not have a tailpipe, this area(pretty decentralized) will have you burn through 400 miles pretty quickly there are a few chargers availible closest being 15 miles away(resort-if the general population would be allowed to charge there) there has to be severe penalties for idiots-numbskulls vandalizing charging stations, the closest "Dominoes Pizza has a fleet of Chevy Volts, very good except for tire wear on the drive axle( what do you expect with kids driving?) even the new Priuses can be turned into a burnout champ-I will say this,I would not trade my constellation of rechargeable tools for ICE or pneumatic, have seen some rather impressive electric chainsaws heavy and expensive,at least the lack of emissions doesn't stink up your clothes and leave you gasping for air ( got italics somehow in my arthritic finger fumbling-how do I get out of it)
We sure are getting a lot of power outages as of late, due in part to the local co-ops new policies (thanks newer chairman, repair on demand is not a good policy) makes me want a power wall,of which there is no way in "hades" I can afford.(if I were single I would be on the "Slate" preorder list)
You get everything squared away"AD" I hope you are doing well.

lets go to Canada and get the "Pioneer" diesel Hybrid Boys on board,eh?( love those guys-we will always need diesel, however it seems we can use a lot less of it,it may take a national mandate and a lot more sharing, everyone cannot have the convenience of single use private things these days, when the "humanoids" are incarcerated or perhaps put into "reeducation" we can go a long ways toward a more relaxed, lower key lifestyle-I think this is a true saying" we are headed,"hellbent" into a dark future unless we can get our schise together. When I was a kid among 5 other brothers we learned to share and it worked pretty well,we did have 45 amps of service used,we heated with wood and carried water( makes you appreciate the finer things-running water, bathroom ,etc, you learn not to take many things for grantand forbidding access to land we respectfully shared for generationsed a lot of problems happened around here when the rich noticed the low realestate values and started snapping up the old homesteads .Neighbors don't move next door these days only selfish forkers that will not have anything to do with one." the biblical prophecy of ["people crying to the rocks of the mountains to fall and hide them from the eyes of the Lord] seems to be fulfilling,I used to trek and hike over these ancient, eldritch ridges with abandon, for the most part not anymore.

I'd point out that this post is from April of 2023. Things have changed a bit since then.

At year end 2022 there were 9500 DCFCs and 28000 ports (most of them Tesla-only).
As of the end of Q3 2026 there are 14800 DCFCs and 75742 ports.

Nearly all of the infra added since 2022 can support any EV. And later models usually support NACS. Which greatly improves i14y and means it is easier to find a place to charge. And the cabinets themselves are much improved (meaning easier to use and far more reliable) over the past four years. Those newer cabinets run at higher power (usually 300kw-400kw) versus the older ones that typically ran at 150kw or less -- that means you charge faster.

And there are a cornucopia of websites and apps that let you find EV charging locations. I've noticed (after watching several people go down the EV learning curve) that people don't use those apps nearly enough. Most road trips are easy-peasy nowadays with a few minutes of planning. In general, unless you are a serious connoisseur of blue highways or you drive great distances in flyover country you will be able to find a place to charge when you need it.

My younger brother likes to road trip and has both a Rivian R1 and a Ford Bronco. Even on longer trips he prefers the Rivian, and his experience is charging is largely a non issue. Stop every few hours for 25 minutes or so and then back on the road. Even on trips where he is crossing several states he says its pretty easy. The built in app handles stop planning pretty reliably.

They have passed various laws requiring normal phone and bank card payments.
The early days of apps, accounts and weird plugs have faded.
Charging is more important than range, I havent filled the tank on my van since Ive had it, with enough reliable charging stations we can have smaller batteries which is a win from every aspect.
