My Experience Registering Three E-Bikes with the New Jersey MVC (First Day of Registration)

What I want to know is how NJ will handle visitors from all the other states that don't issue ebike registrations?
I don't know how it is being handled in other locations, but I met a couple at the Lumberville trailhead on the D&L trail in PA. yesterday. They had just crossed over the Delaware River from NJ on the Bulls Island foot bridge. They were from PA and were trying to ride the D&R Canal trail on the NJ side of the river. They didn't know about the new law and were confronted by a park ranger at Bulls Island. No summons was issued but they were asked to leave with just a warning.

I thought this new NJ law applied only to public roads. Apparently, it includes trails as well.

The law has a grace period... Enforcement starts Jan 1, 2027.
Having lived on this planet for a while now and with the DMV reputation being what it is... running there on day one is, well

Unbelievable.

America used to be the land of the free, but we've been seeing our freedoms violated more and more each year in these communist states like NJ.
Don't even get me started on the infringement of freedoms with guns in NJ.

NY state is no picnic either. We took our PA registered snowmobiles there to ride them and had to show proof of insurance (no biggie) and register them in NY state which turned out to be a huge hassle. We'd traveled a long way (in winter) and they required TWO picture ID's. I only had one. The clerk had sympathy for me I guess and took my airline transport pilot license as a valid form of ID even though it had no picture. The cost was ridiculous as well. When we got to our destination we had to pay a local trail permit fee as well as the state trail permit fee we paid when registering. The whole process at DMV took hours so we lost a half a day of riding. Sounds like NJ ebike permitting is worse though. I'm with the camp that would just ride outlaw until I was "caught". I ride respectfully with a safety vest and helmet but my ebike has the bafang ultra 1,000 watt motor so I'm guessing NJ wouldn't register it anyway?
