Disappointed in the Bafang BBSHD Mid-Drive Conversion

I recently installed a Bafang BBSHD on my old mountain bike. I had talked with a lot of people before pulling the trigger and they all said "They Totally Rip!" I wanted to go with the conversion kit because I wanted more power, and speed, and a throttle, none of which is available from big-name brands or bike shops.

I got it installed yesterday and tested it out for the first time and am super disappointed - the acceleration is so weak that it is barely enough to keep the bike upright in tight slow turns. Then I found out that Bafang now has a ramp-up power delivery system for their mid-drive motors which severely limits the acceleration...wish I had known before buying it...

Does anyone have recommendations for a different brand for mid-drive conversion - one that has not been watered-down?

Nom, I converted BOTH of my bikes with a mid drive bafang and am totally happy, perhaps you in the US just expect too much, buy a motorbike

Have you connected it to a PC to change the settings

Do you know if you have the UART or CANbus version.
UART has a round display connector and CANbus has a Pentagon shape

I have an older BBS02B and tuned it down from the stock heavy acceleration and lurching. Bafang is notorious for changing firmware without notification or explanation.
I have two m620 Ultra motors with serial numbers dated two years apart but with the same controller part number and firmware number and I had to apply different programing parameters to get the same acceleration curve.

This is probably the most comprehensive thread on some of the conversions available... though I believe he's very happy with the BBSHD

I had the old bbshd and they dont 'totally rip', they are highly reliable decent power output motors, super quiet, but nothing like these CYC loonie drives.
1500w, it is what it is.

We used to talk in hushed tones around the campfire when speaking of the big Bafang. The curse of the locked down controller has claimed another legendary motor,
