I did few much easier downhill trials on a very doggy BMX in my teens. Managed to crash, bike smashed to bits, myself surprised (pleasantly) that I'm alive and most likely not fractured anything. Funny how you feel indestructible when you are 14... The older we get, the less risks we tend to...
AS most have already said- it is a machine- it has parts that wear out and it needs to be looked after/ maintained. It is unreasonable to expect consumables to be replaced due to user error, although if there is a manufacturing issue yes- warranty covers it.
In my opinion Specialized look after...
2019 Vado 3.0 did 10k miles until the motor mount broke. Battery pack was charged 311 times and remaining battery life was 90%.
Thus far, replacement 2021 Vado 3.0 covered about 700miles, I'm on 26th charge now, battery pack life 100%.
Fun fact.
Allegedly, reflective strip on the tires is applied by hand, hence why when you spin the wheel on a stand it may appear crooked.
Fun fact two. I took this photo about two miles away from the Olympic Village in London...
I kind of feel the same but, if possible I try to replace like for like. Tech at the bike shop assured me that it will be fine and explained that a chain in a non powered bike is likely to be subject to even more stresses, as some stand up whilst cycling up the incline, therefore "normal" chains...
That's pretty much what the chap at the bike shop said- his advice was to get enough spares to last for a year or so. He had to improvise and add few extra missing links, as chains they have in stock aren't long enough...
I never said I didn't know when- I only moaned about not being able to lay my hands on the replacement part.
I do agree with you tho- it's good to have this and use regularly- I was lucky as chain was stil at 0.5 (I thought it was0.75) so didn't have to splash out on new cassette- advice from...
Went to Evans Cycles (large chainstore, pun intended) near London Bridge- no 9 speed chains of any kind- chap wes nice enough and try on eBay he said . I already tried I said- oh, sorry mate ...
As Stefan said below- chain needs to be replaced when it is worn to say 0.5%. I'm not there yet but I can already feel the gears slipping- it only took 600+ miles, one month of commuting...
At least where you are you shouldn't have a problem obtaining the chain...
Thanks. Yeah, their estimated delivery is about 10 days but customers who have purchased stuff from this store aren't exactly completely satisfied- a lot of issues with orders, so I'm looking for something more local.
This bikes should come with a complimentary chain, or specialized should be...
Ok, I counted the links, 118 + missing link, so not sure if that makes it120 or 118.
Also, found an exact match- delivery date 23 June 2023....
Majority of chains I looked at are about 114, 118, I guess because the frame is XL it needs a slightly longer chain, or, I'll have to buy few sorter...
Hi Stefan,
It's a 9 speed. In the spec it says "KMC e9T, 9-speed w/ Missing Link™ " but I've not been able to locate the exact match in the UK. It is super annoying that one to the most commonly replaced part is not listed in a way that would enable the user to replace it.
PS.
I did look at...
