I do all the time. Nothing serious but love riding trails through the woods on groomed and gravel trails. Strongly suggest replacing the slick tires with something a bit more aggressive how ever. factory tires are too slick
I transport my two bikes on a hitch rack on my truck. Wondering if it will do any damage to the bikes if it’s pouring rain? I’m in Florida and can guarantee it will rain most every day in the summer. Can’t use a cover because it obstructs the tail lights. Any thoughts?
i ride a Como and went with a 52t chain ring, the absolute largest that will fit. There are no hills where I live so there is no need for hill climbing gears And I can now cruise effortlessly in the low twenties. Best change I made.
my Como 3.0 is a class three, 28 mph bike. I also changed the chain ring to a 52T as there are no hills where I live. Cruising in the mid 20’s is a breeze and topping 28 is no problem.
Anyone have a Como step thru they would like to sell? I’m looking for one to keep around for friends to ride with me. Located in south Florida. PM me please
No, I was not able to find a chain guard but truthfully I didn’t look too hard. I live in Florida and always have shorts on. Typically don’t ride if the temps drop into the 60’s. But, if you know where I can find that big of a chain guard let me know. I’d put it on.
Just switch to a 52T crank sprocket, the biggest that will fit, and love it. Easy cadence at 20mph without using the smallest rear gear. Was having problems with the chain wearing the high gear sprocket because I was always riding in high gear. I can now get the same ratio in two gears up...
Let em whine. Nothing I like better than passing a group of roadies, (riding three abreast), at 20mph into a 15mph head wind while sitting straight up on my Como. Sucks to be them.
I would have gone with the 52T but couldn’t find anything bigger than the 48T. And yes, I use high gear all the time. Nice easy cadence at 22 to 23 mph. I can only imagine how nice a 52T would be.
I’ve already switched to the 48T crank sprocket and that was a great improvement. Going to stop at LBS today and see what they have to say. Took a ride yesterday and the skipping, clunking in high gear was very annoying to the point I stopped using high gear.
My Como has developed the clunking, skipping problem like the chain or motor is slipping a tooth when pedaling in high gear with a load. I know this is a problem with some Specialized bikes and I’ve read every thread I could find on the problem/fix but no definitive answer on exactly what the...
One of the things I love about ebiking is that the wind that used to suck the joy out of a ride along the beach doesn’t matter anymore. There are no hills where I live and ride but it’s not unusual to to have a steady 15 to 25 mph wind blowing that makes for a tough ride either going or coming...
I think the comparison to cars is valid in this argument. Virtually every car sold today can exceed posted limits yet they are sold and allowed on the streets. There are no government regulations on power or speed limits for cars and I would oppose that if it were tried. The rules generally...
I occasionally hear a very similar argument regarding fast or modified cars being involved with the motor sports industry all my life. Some people just don’t get the desire for modifications and improvements no matter the explanation. All my cars are modified with ridiculous horsepower and...
