Prior to this ridiculous money grab, NJ abided by the the Class 1, 2 and 3 standard. This here is the typical knee jerk reaction by legislators who really don't know the Class standards, all while allowing the real perpetrators, the high powered electric bikes, to go unchecked.
Stefan, it's been like that with me for a very long time with my Opel GT, trying to buy parts for it through German vendors. They simply will not sell to individual car owners.
And I'm reminded again about the German company E-bike Vision, who make a 750wh external battery for us older class 1...
It seems pretty clear to me. Throw out Class 1, 2, 3 ebikes as recognized by NJ prior to 19 Jan 2026; where no license, no insurance nor no registration were required as it does under this ridiculous sham law. ALL ebikes are now lumped together; requiring a license (Drivers license is...
This is a pretty good breakdown of the new ebike law in NJ:

Taken from a post on the MTBNJ site:
This is in the bill:
no low-speed electric bicycle or motorized bicycle, as those terms are defined by R.S. 39:1-1, shall be operated on the public highways or on public lands of this State unless registered by the owner
Public lands would include the vast...
Latest update as of 19 Jan 2026: the outgoing governor signed the ebike legislation bill. So now, Class One ebikes are in the same grouping as the high powered mini-electric motorcycles. So..... if I want to continue riding this Yamaha powered Haibike, pedal assist; I'll have to have it...
I'd recommend referring to page 2-28 onward of the X94 manual because within, there are specific procedures as to finding any recorded fault codes within the motor or display. There are also specific battery checks you can make and the manual explains how to do that earlier in the manual...
I've enclosed a link for a free download of the Yamaha PW service manual X94: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/975488/Yamaha-X94-Series.html
Within the manual and as you indicated, Error 15 indicates a bad display. But...... several questions you have to ask yourself: 1. Do you have the...
Just wanted to piggyback on your post here..... As the only two factory authorized service centers are Propel and Peter White, I'd contact Peter White first. Why? Peter White has been building wheels for some 4 or 5 decades. So, with them, you have an in-house expert wheel builder on-hand who...
@Cybersnow -- As a long time owner of a Haibike with the Yamaha PW drive, I kind of feel your pain in a way; 1- Haibike departed the US market several years ago & Yamaha ebikes has left the US market as well. For real dealer representation after the sale, I'm thinking now it's either...
That's correct. Been a few years now. The leadership running that company is not the same as when they practically invented the e-mountain bike, along with the fatty ebike. I often thought if the original owners were still in place, they'd have never left the largest ebike market this side of...
I'm really late for this discussion & wondering what you ended up with. As my ebike is a fat tired Full FatSix, I understand the desire to take advantage of the comfy ride those wide tires provide in any situation....... isn't that right @Stefan Mikes?:D lol. whenever there is a fat tired bike...
Looking at the cover case and it appears to be like all the rest of those Chinesieum Yamaha clone batteries that have been out there for years. Folks posting on the Euro ebike forums did not report any favorable opinions of it, from what I recall.
