Agree 100 percent with this. I have heard of lots of folks accidentally having the bike take off after power up when it is in PAS 1 and they accidentally move the pedals. A real safety issue IMHO. I will say that replacing the freewheel is not that difficult and may be preferable to butchering...

A mechanic at one of the dealers once told me in the neighbourhood of 10,000Km,,,but I'm sure some get more and some less. I believe the Das-Kit motor is a rebranded MXUS -- so should see the same chracteristics. I personaaly have about 6,000Km on mine.
