I was a bit shocked to find it out. My purchase plans are on hold.

Then I thought "Who is a manufacturer? The numerous and various component-making factories? The assembly factory? Could it be a kit installer? Someone like...
Yeah. and the reviewers for the Canadian sellers. They are misleading the public big time if they are selling bikes in Ontario as street legal but have no certificate in French and English affixed.
I want this remedied immediately with "The Reviewer". Sellers can tell complainers to shove...
Hi Dave Mathews. I understand that the road bikes are limited. However, that is not all that is required in Ontario, for example. Here provincial regs state that you need a permanently affixed certificate of compliance from the manufacturer in order to ride on the roads.
This is government...
So now that I'm doubting that the ebikes sold in Canada are legal for the road in Canada... stealth seems like it might be a lot smarter.
Maybe I am not going to be getting an ebike. Can someone please confirm that the ebikes being sold for the road have compliance stickers permanently attached ?
Not an irrational fear. I've seen a bike store online "Wanted + Reward" video of test rider woman who stole the bike. I'd NEVER let anyone just have my $2000 bike. It would be overly generous to thieves and quite costly to do that as a regular thing. "Here, hold my $2000/$5000 while I watch you...

Plus I'd look for name brand battery cells...Panasonic, then Samsung, lastly LG. It seems that Panasonic is a Sanyo product, but Sanyo cells are rarely even mentioned - so Panasonic 1st. I'd want 48v and 17Ah minimum 14.5Ah...but you never get everything good in one model.
The more I think about it, the more I tend to go for an incognito sleeper. I'd like a fat tire bike, but probably will choose 2.1" or whatever.
I'm looking for my first ebike; I'm just discovering a few things I needed to know. My views are therefore from a low-info interested party...
I'm in the same boat, except for beach excursions and I'm in Canada so it has to be under 500W motor. I have to remember to make sure of motor cutoff switches in the brake levers, plus hydraulic disc brakes - these bikes are heavy.
Something I have noticed is that the weight of supposedly same...
Thanks for the update. Your bike looks like a good choice. Up here in Canada we have a limited choice on budget bikes and our Bolivars are looking dim. I'm ready to trade some right now for an ebike, but the more I read up, the more I hesistate! :)
