The transition

I bought milk in a glass bottle today.
I sympathise with you!

Have you ever heard of UHT milk? :)

Frozen concentrated juice isn’t banned. But it is being discontinued. Largely because people are buying fresh juice instead. I’d also point out that fresh juice is more expensive as has a higher profit margin all through the supply chain.
Readily available in the Heartland.

Watching this 13 yr old Tesla battery being checked for corrosion and integrity is a little alarming.
If you had a bike battery looking like that, youd throw it in a lava pit.
Its probably fine, but theres going to be millions of these things out there.

Just saying, but my utility charges me $0.09 per kwh so I can drive over 4000 miles on $100 worth of electricity. Just do the math.

Yes, but what about stuff like oil changes, transmission, differential, exhaust, and radiator service?
In fairness, all modern EVs do have cooling systems for the battery and inverter. But basically all you need to do is add coolant.

I'll say it again, this is irrelevent.
They will tax till youre paying just as much once weve all moved over.
Cheap is always a way to change minds, then its kaching.

The EV uses a handful of roller bearings and the lubrication is not subjected to impurities from combustion.
The motor produces far smoother power to the transmission..
But still the batteries, I dont understand why they arent pressurised with pressure loss alarms.

Brakes too. EVs use regenerative braking for most deceleration so brake pads/rotors last forever.

I commented earlier in the thread that my youngest brother has both an EV (Rivian R1) and IC (Ford Bronco). He road trips both and tracks costs and its pretty amazing how much cheaper the EV is on a day to day basis. The caveat is that you mostly need to charge at home; fast chargers on road trips are actually pretty expensive. Cheaper than gas (especially paying the our-leader-is-an-idiot tax we currently are) but a lot more expensive than charging at home residential rates. But unless you live your life road tripping, most of your charging is going to be done at home.

They already charge a higher registration fee here in Virginia for fuel efficient vehicles and EVs (they call it the highway use fee) to try and make up for the loss of gas tax, but honestly our gas taxes are so low compared to most of the world that the fee doesn't really make a dent in gas savings. Its currently a flat 135.63 per year for EVs. Thats like one tank of gas for my F150.

Well, until then I will enjoy the money I am saving...

If this is only a risk in the long run, then all the more reason to buy an EV right now and enjoy the savings while you still can. I'd also argue that even if they kind of gouge you on the road usage tax (usually done as a fuel tax) by changing it over to an annual excise tax, you'd still be saving quite a bit of money.
