Another new TQ motor: hpr40

I finally created the route that I have been planning to ride since I moved here. It's just under 90 miles round trip. I will use my range extender. The app broke it up into six segments based on elevation. All assist is in Eco, but there were several segments calculated as None. I decided to set every segment to Eco, and shut off assist whenever I feel like it. After this modification, it leaves me with a -3% deficit for the ride. That's a rounding error. Worth taking the risk. Worst case is I suffer a little more on the way home.

Setting segment assist levels like you did — higher than you'll likely use — is a good way to pad the range estimate in favor of getting home under power.

Fresh off the rumor mill: I saw a post by a guy who said he just ordered a 2027 Trek Domane+ and it is lighter and has the hpr40. I don’t see any official announcement but another rumor is that it’s the top end of the slr line. Time will tell….

New Trek Domane+ SL just released with HPR 40.
The 2027 Treks just showed up on their (US) website. They use the SL carbon, sram Axs, TQ 40 motor and are 3 pounds lighter than the previous model.
The review I read notes that it allows for 200% rider power multiplier, which is twice what other hpr40 systems allow. That solves a common complaint I’ve seen from some riders. Another deviation from other hpr40 bikes is that it uses the 360Whr battery, not the usual hpr40 290Whr one. I thought the smaller one made the bikes look totally stealthy, without the bulky down tubes of the previous hpr 50/60 treks.

Thanks for heads up larger battery + increased assist ( assume still capped at 200W) makes it as functionally capable as TQ50 equipped bikes for most riders but lighter. Sounds like a winner...

Yeah, it seems to have a max of 200W but the rider assist has been boosted from 100 up to 200% for the hpr40. I’m curious about the option for a 580 WHr battery. Seems like that would need a different frame with an even bigger downtube.

Looks like the BMC Roadmachine, Domane+ and Canyon Endurace Onfly share very similar frame geometry. Fairly tall stack, shorter reach, endurance style.

The new Domane+ has a taller stack than the previous model. Added to that they are using new handlebars with a 20mm rise, making it noticeably more relaxed (more upright) than most other road bikes.

It is an app I wrote when I was shopping for a bike. Lots of good comparison tools out there but I wanted to be able to compare frame geometry but also impact on rider position and to adjust things like stem length, spacers, bar reach on the fly to visualize the impacts on fit and insure I could match my existing bike which felt dialed in for me.
