Weird Specialized discovery....

Bends and drop ends. Multiple forearm options. Flat bars have nothing to rest on, unless you set up bar ends to do so.

No bar ends for me, I don't like the wide stance or increased reach. I cut my bars down to 670mm and even that is too wide. I would prefer more sweep, but the TICR internal routing of the Most bars is non-negotiable. I would have to have any replacement milled for the openings.

I think I will try the GP1 biocork grips.
Here's my bars, good sweep and much narrower then the stock bars. Tried inner bars at one stage using cast off hoods (removed levers) but wasn't using them much as position felt too stretched out. Think the Ergon grips are GP1s can't remember. This set up is by no means aero but it is extremely comfortable. The carbon fibre AI designed S Works mirror was crazy expensive but with it's built in radar & connect to Starlink is very handy 😉

That's a great looking setup, but I don't want that much sweep, it would reduce the reach significantly, and I'd have to have them milled.
But if you give me the nod I'm sure I can get you an equally beautiful mirror for a very reasonable price...👍

Re sweep, tried a couple of different options and just liked this one most. Suits the twisty narrow lanes here where aero is not important so my more upright position isn't a problem. I do in strong headwinds use the parts of bar by the stem and tuck down out of the wind, but obviously this is not half as versatile as drops.

As a Specialized user, I would feel bad to find a monstrosity such as the Globe Haul in a Specialized LBS.

This is such a ridiculously silly thing to even think, much less put into writing. Its a very standard looking e-cargo bike. Why would a LBS selling a cargo bike (a very common type of bike that is popular with people who use bikes for utilitarian purposes) make you feel bad?!

Blinded by the light
Wrapped up like a douche
Another runner in the night

😁

This the one:

It looks like a cargo bike. It's made by Specialized. Tektro brakes, Microshift 10 speed gears all good. What's the problem?

Cargo bikes are like vans. Practical unfussy solid and useful to do a job. This looks, well, like a practical cargo bike.

Try buying it in the UK.

That bag on the bars would drive me to distraction, I get annoyed by the shadow of my back straps flapping in the wind.😂

I have never seen a cargo bike in my city or suburbs, not even in the trendiest downtown areas.
Rental scooters with a giant box jammed against the bar stem.. yes...but no cargo bikes.
All our progressives drive Range Rovers

It's the best! Top flap opens forward so easy to flick open (velcro) and grab a snack, pair of gloves, what have you & it's always in sight so no danger of losing it on rough roads and not realise it's been dumped off somewhere.

Yeah they're not common here but on the lanes would be tricky anyway if a van or tractor was coming against you, just no room. See them down in Exeter doing deliverys etc.

We rent them to families along with two child seats. Cannondale Cargowagen Neo. Very popular. The customer must have a hitch rack.

Cargo bikes are a niche, but a popular enough niche that most manufacturers these days seem to feel its worth having one to sell. I suspect its a steadily growing niche (especially e-cargos) for people who live in semi urban areas. 15 years ago you either had to do a european import or a Surly Big Dummy. Now you have tons of options, electric and non.

Their popularity(or lack of) doesn't really answer why a shop selling one would cause someone distress though. Is it some sort of "my brand only sells to ELITE cyclists who ride the FINEST machines and no ELITE cyclist would be caught dead on a non-bougie cargo bike" thing?

In my parts we either ignore or twist the nipples of the elite thinkers. The latter being much funnier. 🙃

The deeper level of funny is that actual elite cyclists don't prescribe to that. I know several very dedicated cyclists with cargo bikes (as in live partially car-free, ride like 10k+ miles per year and are competitive local racers). None of them are riding anything particularly fancy in the cargo bike department. They'll have fancy 5 figure racing bikes with carbon everything, but their cargo bikes are utilitarian with pedestrian parts. Its the bike they use to get groceries and schlep their young kids around in, theres no point in getting anything expensive.
